With any luck my car should be home from the fabricators by the end of the year and I can start the fun stuff. I'm installing a blown SBC, which is dry sump, so i need to build a lot of hoses!

I absolutely hate building traditional braided lines so I'm leaning towards push lock. The motor is carbureted so I'm not worried about too much pressure on the fuel side, but the oil system will see up to 100 lb of pressure. Have any of you seen issues with push lock fittings?

When you say traditional braided, you talking outer steel braid, or the new style “cloth” braid?

If you have enough to do look at these. Old guy in Havasu owns it, real nice guy with some bitchen cars.
That looks awesome. I definitely have enough hoses to make that worth while.

I'm leaning toward push lock hoses

I have been using push lock for years on everything I can.
Non compare to the quality of Parker Push-loc.

I have an air hose that has been outside for 22 years…..

not sure of your area, but find a hose place near you. I use mesa hose in costa mesa. the guy who owns it is a racer and a boater. he is also the guy behind the counter you will talk to. i buy fittings and hose from him, tell him the length and in less than 10 minutes i have a complete and pressure tested hose in my hands. no charge for the assembly, just buy the fittings and hose.

I have that tool and it does make the process much easier. Haven't used it in a long time but was worth the price.

I went over to my friend's hanger at the airport yesterday to look at the plumbing on his turbo boat that I had previously told him was not correct(some of the water lines were only -8). Made a list of fittings, and now considering buying pushlock. I am going to mention to him prior to ordering his list of parts. I had met Dick Raczuk some years back in association with the Havasu Deuces car club, Very wise old guy with an interesting background.

After having a pushlock hose on my fuel system come off on my sand car, which could have been absolutely catastrophic, I went through and replaced all my hoses with new hose from Kartek with the XRP NHRA accepted push lock hose (I had used the CBM house hose originally, which became hard and lost its elasticity), and I put an Oetiker clamp at each fitting for good measure.

Let me know what you decide and how it works!
After looking at how much less expensive the conventional AN fittings are, even though the braided stainless hose costs more, I think we will go with the conventional braided stainless, which will keep it matching what's currently in the boat. Not to mention we are working with -10 and -12 which are not difficult to assemble compared to some of the small sizes.

In all my race cars and boats, I'll use push lock with Oetiker clamps on the low-pressure fuel and water lines but in high pressure engine oil, its AN hose and fitting. With the hydraulic, I use CAT made hose with JIC fittings clocked in the right orientation.

If you feel like getting creative, use SS hard line with AN fittings on the static fuel and water lines. It always looks super trick.

If you are going to do dry sump plumbing XRP crimp fittings are your friend. BLR in San Clemente has all the tools and can help you with the fittings.

Oetiker clamps on pushlok will work for any pressure you’ll need.

Coming from experience of owning a hose and fitting shop for 20 years. I wouldn’t use push lock with 100psi of hot oil inside. Have hoses crimped for that area.
