Whats up RDP,

I wanted to post about our stay at the Topock hotel last weekend. The girlfriend and I decided to do a last minute trip to Havasu but were only going to able to stay one night so we decided to try out the hotel at Topock. Saves us some drive time and gave us a chance to try out a new spot. We drove up Friday morning and launched out of Pirates around 1pm. We headed down river to the sandbar and hung out. Ended up meeting some very nice people, one of which had an RDP tank. We had been keeping an eye on the possible storm heading in and decided it would be a good idea to head back up, check in, and grab some grub.

We docked the boat and headed to the hotel thru the pool area. The ladies at the front desk were very personable and inviting. They got us checked in and our way. We decided to go check out the room, as we were curious what it was like. Right away we were super impressed, the room and bathroom were spacious and very clean. The layout was very well done with a great view and some items in the room paying homage to route 66. We were stoked to call that home for the night.

The clouds at this point were looking questionable so we headed back to pirates to put the boat on the trailer. Side note: if you’re looking a place to learn/teach someone to put a boat on a trailer, this is the place to do it. Great launch ramp, calm waters, and is usually pretty empty. We got the boat on the trailer and wiped down, then headed to the storage area to keep it at pirates for the night. I wanted to try it out and it was only 10 bucks, ended up being a solid option if you ever need to store your boat. We drove back to Topock, dropped our stuff in the room and headed down the restaurant. Again, the waitresses/staff were very courteous and personable. We sat out in the butt chairs to enjoy our food and drinks (which were great as always) and the view. About halfway thru eating the winds picked up so we moved into the restaurant to finish up. It started raining as we made our way back to the room so we decided to hang out on the balcony and watch the storm.

Woke up the next morning, weather was beautiful, headed down to restaurant and grabbed some breakfast, (again, food/service was great). We then checked out of the room, headed back to pirates, hooked up, launched again and enjoyed all the Eliminators hauling the mail up and down the river.

All in all it was a great experience and a very cool way to experience the river. We decided we would definitely stay there again and look forward to our next trip.

I stopped there last Saturday to check it out, place was hoppin’. Had a band playing on the stage on the side of the new hotel, not sure how much that gets into the rooms.

I’m
Always afraid to dock in there because it’s so shallow. I know they dredged a few years back but that shit is still shallow. Especially near the docks.

Yeah, I have a depth finder, keyed off the bottom about midships. It was like 3 feet in a lot of the channel in and around the docks I might have seen a 2 foot rarely. I kept my drive up, but there were some bigger boats in there (cats with outboards, and a couple larger V’s) so I figured if they were in there it wasn’t that bad.

What I didn’t like was going from the clear blue water to this light tan milkshake water of the channel. But Pirates was the same way.

It occurred to be to check my seas strainer and see how much I sucked up but I forgot to. I figure it’s gotta have some silt in the bottom of it now, but maybe it all got flushed out running back to Windsor.

Yeah, 2’. Nuh-uh. 😂 believe the draft on our boat is 2’8” or so. That’s listed but that’s a bravo boat. Lot more weight in the back of our boat dropping it down a bit more.

Are you allowed to keep your boat on the dock?

Yes, $75 a stay, in the docks in front of the hotel, so you can your boat from the room.
That's great you can see it from the room.....so the question but, but never answered by others as they have not stayed overnight.

When in the room sleeping, can you hear or feel the trains going by ?

I can't lie lol, you can definitely hear the trains going by, maybe order 1 extra cocktail at the bar before bed, worked for me haha. We were tired enough it didn't bother us.

I would be interested on how the launch ramp is. Seems like a perfect place to boat out of if the launch ramp is good.
