Great looking digs right there! Kinda genius on their part to do this. With nothing else really around there, you are likely eating at least 2 meals a day at the restaurant, buying ice, drinks, snacks etc at the store and fuel at the docks.

Assuming you are allowed to moor in the slips overnight for no charge??

Agree 100%. Fix the cleats and bumpers on a regular basis shouldn’t be that hard. Caught a lag screw pulling into a slip a few years back.
Dredging it every year would be huge. The run off from the preserve is brutal on that cove. Bigger the monsoon season, the more mud gets pushed in. On slow release days I won’t even pull in there.

Last time I went to Malakais? It’s in the channel. Place is pretty good. Food and staff didn’t disappoint.

Finding people that far away from a decent size population is definitely an Issue. They keep the restaurant in pretty good shape though. It’ll depend on how much they can charge and keep it full. Cheap rooms mean shady people that jack things up.

It's a buzz kill to leave in the afternoon, would do an overnighter for sure!!!

It is not. The place needs a dredging. Truck/trailer parking is an issue too

I was thinking about this too and I would rather launch at Pirates and leave the truck / trailer there.

I think it took an act of Jesus for Chet to get a dredging permit. Army corp of engineers are the reason it took so long to get they place up and running. The see wall and dredging was ridiculous.

I’d launch at Windsor and cruise up. We used to keep our boat at Billy B’s in Needles. We’d launch at Pirates to stay at Nautical. The overnight trailer/truck parking is outside the gate.

I’m with you and torn. I’d rather cruise the boat up than tow to Pirates though. I think it would be a cool overnight deal. Kinda wanted to do the RDP night cruise to Topock except the night time drive back seemed sketchy. This could be a fun trip. A little pricey but fun deal, especially if they have a band going a little later.

Those that went to the RDP steak/lobster night cruise know about short staffed issues there.....

But to give credit, we have always had great service there and with it being one of a handful of places on the river to boat to and eat, we can't be picky.

They are doing a great job giving us a place to go to and this hotel seems cool for a few days, as long as the water is up.

So to answer some of the question..

It was dredged and is deep now if you stay in the center. They changed the water flow upstream so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem in terms of the entrance anymore.. It’s depositing the sediment more toward the east side now which they deal with.

They removed some of the center docks to make the slips wider for larger boats and they are working on improving the cleats etc.. (better dock maintenance.
