Both my wife and I just received text about paying a fine by January 17..never drive toll roads(which is bullshit deal anyways as we’re all taxed for roadways).
Anyone else getting this scam?

I just got it earlier this week and drive the toll roads everyday. I knew it was BS but I bet it catches people all the time.

Wife was getting the spam texts this week (or maybe it was last week). Her ph # isn't even associated with the toll account we use. Obvious scam. They must be hitting many states as we are not in CA.

Yes, got that one a couple times. The one's I got were from the Bay area, and I know we weren't up there anytime recently.

I bet the scammer get a lot of people because it's a low amount, so people will not take the time to research and then just pay it. I'm sure they are raking it in on volume...

You can tell right away from the phone number - +63 951 045 5969, that’s no nearby number.
Toll Roads even sent out a text letting people know that these scams were going on.

Been getting them for a while now.
First one caught me be surprise as we still travel to OC quite a bit.
But we live in NV so we quickly new it was blasting to all 714/949 #'s
Thought it was pretty creative type scam though.

All the time....ignore it, like I do most texts.

The problem with this shit is not the gullibility of idiots, but the desire of responsible people to not want to pay fines for missed/late payments. Many folks have no idea about Fastrak or whatever it's called in their neighborhood, and it's really not hard to miss a lane change and end up on goddam toll road (so I hear...fucker that borrowed my truck a few weeks ago caused me an email explaining the fine...which was legit).

I'd suggest to turn OFF paperless everytihng...unless I get a bill in the mail, I don't pay it. Unless I get a notification in the actual mail....I ignore it unless I'm expecting it (emails from suppliers, etc...).

Scams have taken over electronic media.

This is not progress, we're headed in the wrong direction.

My brother lives in Utah, but was here for Christmas, He did not drive the tolls, but was down in Capo while he was here, I wonder if it's a proximity deal, a week after he got home he got the same threat text.

Paperless everything is the way to go…..I sure as heck don’t want my personal information going through the postal system. Just don’t click on any links in emails or text messages, and if they have an app, use it with a password app and biometric sign-in.

That's funny as hell. I just received one at 5:53am this morning for a toll violation today and my cars are in the driveway.
