So I bought a gallon of fuel treatment. Wondering who has come up with a good way of keeping some with you on the truck to dose when you fill up. You buy some bottle off Amazon? I have a camper shell and would prefer to keep it in the cab of the truck. For reference I have to dose 12oz a fill up. Thanks

I have a small 2 stroke oil 8 oz. container from wal mart, fill it up with additive as needed from the gallon jug and keep it in a ziploc baggy in the truck. I'm sure you could find it in the size you need

My truck. I have one of the tri fold hard tonneau covers that locks with the tail gate…
And I have one of those expandable bars that extends from one side of the bed to the other side of the bed to prevent shit from sliding around…

And I have this… full of truck crap… tie downs, hitchs, zip ties, pliers, tow ropes etc etc etc…. And a bottle of deisel additive.
I have been running the Hot Shots for awhile now… Youtube dude “Project Farm” did a complete scientific analysis of all the brands and Hot Shots was one of the better ranked ones.

I use hot shot. 2 oz. per 25 gal. It comes in 16 oz self measuring plastic bottles similar to Sta-lube. I make sure not to spill any of it when I add it to the tank. As a result, I can keep it in the truck however, I do wrap it in a crap load of paper towels and keep it in a 1 gal zip lock freezer bag just in case.

i use these and keep them in one of those plastic ammo boxes with the gasket and clasp.

I used to run the hot shots in that same container. I noticed in the summer it would creep up to the top and eventually pressure itself to leak.

That is certainly a concern. Much like a plastic gas can expands in the heat. In my case, our truck will mostly be residing in the garage or the storage unit (at least in the summer) which should mitigate that risk.

Also you don't have to be precise with a fuel additive, just pour and guess it's not like premix with a 2 stroke

I keep a couple 24oz bottles behind the back seat of Optilube. I refill the bottles when they need from the gallon pump in the garage.

Not in todays diesel. They are designed to run on low sulfur fuel. Atf will screw stuff up now.

You want the best additive. Primrose 5007. I have run it for years and it works great. Keeps the algae, & asphultine out of your system. Lubes all parts and will make your engine noticeably quieter. 1 oz per 10 gal.

This. Used to just keep a 6 qt box under the seat. Pour a qt every fill up no matter how much was in the tank.

Hmm? I'll throw some anti gel in the old 7.3 on occasion. That's it. Wondering if I should look in to giving her some extra injector lube?

I used to use OptiLube XPD in my Dmax - I kept an 8oz bottle in my door cup holder that I’d use at every fill up. When I got home from the fillin’ station I’d just fill the bottle from my 1 gallon bottle with the pump. Don’t know if it helped or not, but I did get over 310,000 miles out of my CP4 pump before I traded it in.

I kept a quart size bottle of additive in a 2 gallon bucket in the bed. Additives can have a strong odor.

100% the 7.3 was engineered for Low Sulphur, not ultra low, sulphur was a lubricant, mainly good for the high pressure pump parts.

marine two stroke oil for direct injection motors is the cheapest and easiest to use. The walmart supertech tc3w or whatever it's called

I do the same. I have four 8oz bottles that I refill from the 1 gallon jug of XPD. I keep them in a box in my truck with some other stuff.

I used about half a qt. now and then in my 6.2 and 6.5 dogs which had the mechanical standine pump dealio. Was advised not to use it in newer high pressure electronic stuff. Now using the PS additive for the durtymax and audi. Audi has a Bosch pump, so hopefully it won't "CP4" on me.

I think Marvels has a cult following. I need to start using it in all my vehicle. guys swear by it so much I may start using it as salad dressing

My 7.3 had a tad rough idle...

But I also thought, diesel fuel is So dry these days, it couldn't hurt to try it.

It made a Huge difference! And now after using the Opti-Lube for awhile, this engine has Never idled this smooth. It's crazy.

It's expensive though. But Marvel ain't cheap either.

All I know for sure is, it's definitely made a difference on the old bucket of bolts. 👍🏼

The only part of the fuel system on a 7.3 that is high pressure uses engine oil. Fuel pressure is 55-70 psi. The biggest impact ultra low sulfur diesel had on 7.3s was mileage. An easy 4 mpg drop.

Also a side note, i have no idea about running two stroke oil through a dpf/def system. My gut says don't do it, stick to an off the shelf additive. 2 cycle oil is for older pre emissions systems. ATF also works.

A mechanic I know told me ATF or two stroke oil. Just make sure it’s a non synthetic oil. Was in reference to my 05 5.9, didn’t notice any change, noise, mileage or otherwise.
