My Mai Tai recipe is:
1 Half gallon of Dole pineapple/orange juice.
1 Cup light rum
1 Cup dark rum
a splash of grenedene
a floater of Myers rum.
In a large jug add lots of ice and then all of the ingrediants.
be careful with the grenedene. You can always add more but if you put too much in you're screwed.
Sheke or stir well and enjoy.

REVISED !

Apricot/Mango from Kerns
Pineapple juice from the can
White Rum
Ice
After the first ingredents are poured add grenadine do not stir let it sink to the bottom. You only need a small amount or it screws up the drink.
Float Myres Dark on top. Do not stir.
Add slice of pineapple.

The drink should be stirred by the customer.

When you serve it you will have three layers Dark on top, orange in the middle and red on the bottom.

Trust me you will like this one. I got it form the king of Mia Tia

Caseys on Tustin across from Toyota of Orange. Happy hour Thursday nights before bowling. Those where some good times.

The zombie is very similar to the Mia Tia but add some golden rum, apricot brandy, papaya juice and 151.

So all the rum but the 151 go in the glass with the juice and brandy. Add ice pour the grenidine let it settle to the bottom and float with 151.
We always play around with the type of juice but the best are pineapple, mango, papaya, aprricote.

Now you got me thirsty.

Florida's Natural or Kerns Pinapple-Orange (1/2 gallon carton)
Grenadine
Captian-Sailor Jerry-Rinaldo (Pick your favorite spiced rum)
Meyers Dark (no subsitutes here!)

That's it, 1/3 rum, 2/3 juice. Drizzle of Grenadine to make the bottom red and a floater of Meyers to make yer lips tingle.

My wife's favorite drink. :thumbsup

While all these fruit and grenadine concoctions may be indeed tasty they are NOT a MAI TAI.

THIS IS A MAI TAI: (and it's not spelled Mia Tia, that would sound like Mee ah Tea ah)
* 1 ounce Fine Jamaican Rum (15 or 8 year old)
* 1 ounce Martinique Rum (St. James)
* 1/2 ounce Orange Curacao
* 1/2 ounce Orgeat Syrup (Homemade is best)
* Juice from one fresh lime (about 3/4 ounce)
* Garnish with a FRESH mint. (And slap the mint just before garnishing)
* Mix and serve as in the Original Formula

The rums can vary to your tastes, make sure you use a decent white and a decent dark. For the love of god, don't use Bacardi or Captain Morgans in it. A true Mai Tai NEVER EVER has any grenadine in it or any other juice other than 1 freshly squeezed lime.

..and yes for your information I am part of the Mai Tai police.

All complicated and shit... :D

It's all about:
2 parts Mr & Mrs T Mai Tai Mix, 1 part bacardi, 1 part meyers pour into a left-over Naked Turtle bucket, mix with 2 fingers throw in a few straws and commence to drinkin'

Mostly works the best on the back of the swim step on the lake

I like to make it in a jug and then add fruit, watermelon, cantaloupe something that soaks up some of the Mai Tai then eat the fruit while enjoying the drink. You can get pretty hammered that way.:champagne:

:D Lot's of good recipes floatin around in here.

I can add a couple, but, it'll just get lost in the mix.

Like I've said a few times, use good quality ingredients and you can't go wrong. ICE is also very important. Don't use the crap that's been in your ice maker for a week. It'll make your drinks taste like freezer.

And yes MoVal Tim, you're right. We don't do a whole lot of them drinks. Mostly beer and good tequila for me. Or, Crown and diet. Or, good scotch. Or many times Jack and diet.

In fact, we just had a kick ass dinner service and I'm gonna go get me a cocktail.:D:champagne:
