The last trip to the River House

House is in Escrow and this was our last weekend we were going to use the River House before it goes to the new owners.

The appraisal is running late so the Escrow got extended two weeks so we are going to stay and bounce back and forth to Havasu during that time. I have a lot of mixed emotions about this, having grown up here and been a part of the keys for 40 years. Part of me is excited for the next adventure, most of me is reminiscing and sad to see it go..

Daniel wanted to ride with the boys.. made to the entrance to the keys before he wanted back in my boat.. lol





Had an awesome day yesterday.. went bar hopping again last night.. My check liver light turned on this morning so took it pretty easy today..

Went to RoadRunner for lunch, their food was on point today..

Floating by the dam.. Hooked up with Scott and Carter Bahde abd Dell (Dellirious) and floated by the dam. Then hooked up with Ricky and Greg Pursley and hung out on a beach by Buckskins before eating our second lunch.. lol.

BTW RD, not sure if you are aware since I wasn't for a while, those puddle jumper vests for the little ones aren't USCG approved for boats. It has the USCG approved logo on them but if you read the writing on it, it says not for boats. I was surprised when I read it on my daughter's so I thought I'd share.

She normally wears a typical life vest with the leg straps etc.. We were going about a 1/4 mile from one beach to another so I just left it on her instead of doing the whole routine of on and off twice...

Like I said, I was just shocked that there were 2 different USCG approvals for kids life vests. So I thought I'd share to hopefully educate someone that didn't know and help them possibly avoid a ticket or worse (not necessarily you).

I was thinking the same. Eli is two and everyday now it's I want to go to the lake house. I want to go to the river. Where's my boat. But RD lives in havasu so I guess it's not that big a deal.

These last few days will be tough - anytime you spend that much time as a family and with friends in one house you can't help but be filled with memories as you get ready to say goodbye to it.

It sounds like it was a family decision and it's not always as easy as it might look from the outside.
Of course there will be many times ahead where you wish you still had that house but life isn't always as easy as being able to do or have everything you wish you could.

My hope for your family Dave is that the reasons that motivated your family to sell the house will allow you all to do other things with your life that could not have been done otherwise. You will always have found memories of someplace that was such big part of making you who you are.

Dave I followed along when you announced the family decision to sell it. I understand the feelings you are dealing with, I think you have been quite circumspect about the whole situation. I don't think I would have done as well. It does seem to be true that when one door closes another opens, so I hope that at some point in life you guys find another "river house"...either at the river or in some other place that will make you as happy as Apache Loop has made you over the years.
Your memories are yours forever, cherish those...
I am thankful we were able to enjoy the hospitality you and Stacy showed us when we were there, and completely get the vibe of Parker, and the Keys.
If we ever were to hit the Powerball that place would get a hard look for a vacation house...

Always is. My grandpa built the house on the river facing side of the keys at the top end with the dock house with the red doors on it. It's 2 down from the huge one they are currently building on the corner at the top of the keys river facing side. Grew up going there all the time, every time I drive past it looks weird seeing and knowing someone else is there. At least you have plenty of good friends with places to stay.

Oh I am bummed about it, but I am not sure the word "brave" qualifies.. I considered selling my havasu pad and moving down here, but with the kids etc it really doesn't make sense for us.

We have been working hard to pay things off and get out of debt etc.. We are finally at a point where we are starting to get ahead and look towards the future..
