Here’s a cooy paste from Chuckie Boyd who posted this on facebook. His father Chuck Boyd RIP helped establish the K boat class back in 1968 and went on to campain numerous race boats over many decades.
Boat racing has always been our family’s sport. Naturally as a young boy I loved the loud engines and smell of race fuel.
I loved to tie a string to toy boat and pull it along the shore at the many boat races we traveled to
As I got older I would dream of being a driver in one of my dads “k’s” one day but to my disappointment and knowing how dangerous it was, mom and dad wouldn’t even consider it.
The loss of my dad hit our family hard and no one harder then my mom. We thought what a better way to honor his memory and all the effort he put into the sport of K-boat racing but to have “the master painter” Billy B paint a trilogy boat in his memory. We never imagined he would create this show stopper.
So Dad......this boats for you. From the strings of my toy hobbit boat to the marionette strings you work from heaven on the deck of the new hobbit boat, we all love and miss you. I know if you were here today you would be in awe and amazement in the Detail, time, effort and love Billy put into painting your boat.
Billy, Every time I hear a race boat engine roar I get goosebumps, now I get them just looking at the most stunning tribute boat I have ever seen. We can never put into words how much we appreciate the blood sweat and heartfelt love you poured into this boat. My Mom, DAD and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Special thanks to:
Billy B and his Brother Bobby and the Krazy Kolors crew
Brad King for the awesome pin striping
Matt Hutchinson
Tammy Miller @ Tamco paints
Janice Griffin Berkenheger for the beautiful Face Book pics
Heath Culp, Larry Hamilton, Matt Gregory, and David Creech
For all the help and input. Thank you all.
