I’ve been out of Ca for almost 6 years now , went back for family obligations this past weekend . Well , it looks like Tesla has now replaced the BMW as the most popular virtual signaling device on the roads ! Tesla’s are everywhere , every other driveway has a Tesla parked in it . Every lane on the clogged , saturated road raged freeway , usually the left lane , has a Tesla in it . Am I missing something ? Are they the best cars ever produced ?

Just people drinking the kool-aid 😁
Actually if you're in a mild climate, great commute vehicle under 200miles running ac the whole time!

My personal take no thank you creating more toxic waste ( lithium batteries).

Pro-tip:

You can cut off a Tesla and it'll automatically apply the brakes and you'll get in just fine.

This is also why these cars are always clogging up the left lane. They've replaced the prius as the most annoying car on the road.

His run rate is 1,800,000 cars a year so I guess theyll start showing up 😉

All the power to him. non-union shop bucking all the lib ways. If nothing else virtue signal that you aren't a libtard and buy one if it works for you. The left hates Musk
Calstrs and Calpers voted against his pay raise whats that tell you

It’s hilarious that it wasn’t too long ago that Musk was a darling of the left 🤣

I have always said that an EV commuter car makes more sense for CA drivers that commute to work on a daily basis other than other states. Why? Gas prices in CA are out of control and people can justify the purchase of an EV or Tesla more now that ever. Prices for Tesla's have come way down and as Shintooo mentioned there some great tax breaks on them including a tax break for installing a charger at home. Take into consideration you'll never need a brake job or pads, there's no transmission, no oil changes, no air filter, no differential services, no smog cert etc.. There's really nothing to do to them except cosmetic stuff...

Btw, I drive the 101 almost everyday... Saying that Tesla's are the cars with the dickhead drivers that are camped out in the number one lane is simply unfounded. Clueless drivers drive all sorts of cars and trucks.

Are they the best cars ever produced? No.. The build quality is nothing like a BMW, Mercedes, Lexus etc.. But they are fun to drive and I'm blown away at all the technology they have in them, with that said my Tesla Model 3 long range is the most incredible car I've ever driven just based off of the technology alone.

As I have mentioned before, Tesla's are the number 1-2 and 3 most American made cars on the road in the USA.. No other manufacture is more American than Tesla. Not Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Chrysler Jeep etc.. You boys hate unions, you should love Tesla's.

my wife’s daily driver is a tesla. it’s a great car and if we are doing stuff around town it’s the car we take 99.99% of the time.
her sold reason for buying it is she hates going to the gas station 😂😂 she plugs it in when she gets home and starts every day with a full tank 😉

her car prior was a 5 series so I guess she fits the “basic” profile 🤷🤷 no virtue signaling and she has no misconceptions it’s saving the world.

I don't know, I personally prefer to beat the 4hr mark to and from Vegas, can't do that with an EV, maybe 6hr if you're lucky

I never drive to Vegas. I fly 🤣

I also have another Audi gasser for when I need to go the distance.

Q. What's the difference between a BMW and a Porcupine?

A. A Porcupine has its Pricks on the outside. 😁

I had a bimmer before I got the Tesla. I don’t think I’m an asshole. 🤪

The bimmer was a lot nicer quality wise and definitely tighter in turns and curves but my god the acceleration of the Tesla is worth the price of admission.

Better to drive like an asshole than to drive like a pussy!

That being said I drive my BMW a lot calmer here in Texas. In LA it felt good to drive like an asshole since all the other assholes deserved it lol. Here it's more laidback. I do hate the semi trucks driving in the #1 lane for no reason besides "the road is smoother". Assholes!

You can make it from Vegas to Orange County without charging pretty easily with the dual motor.

The cars have their place, everyone wants to shit on them. But hey different strokes for different folks.

That almost 300 miles isn't it? It will go that far using the AC the whole way?

Yeah but what he’s not saying is it’s pretty much downhill most of the time from Vegas to OC.

Try going the other direction, the Tesla doesn’t make it.

The AC doesn’t really draw that much.. It’s like throwing a deck chair off the Titanic.. It’s the speed that kills range.

Speed and temperature.
Drove our 2018 model 3 to SF airport from our house in Vacaville in the winter a couple years ago. 150 miles round trip. Granted I had after market 20” wheels with performance tires.
After being parked for almost a week I barely made it home.
I’ll never do much more than locally jaunt around town with it but it’s always gonna be a fun local toy.

I'm more concerned with the car's value after 10 years. A car that needs a $20,000 battery doesn't sound awesome nor does trying to sell a car in need of a $20,000 battery. If they can remedy this problem, they'll have a clear path to world dominance.

Is there a place or method to recycle the old batteries or do we have waste containment areas for dealing with this?

Car resale values can suck my…

My 02 Silverado, 130,000ish probably a few thousand st best.
Haven’t had a payment on it in almost 20 years.

Sold the 06 bimmer at 230,000 miles in 2021.
At least 10 years no payment.

I’ve never understood why people are so concerned about “resale” value.
I keep vehicles as long as I can after the loan is paid off. Basically free money.

The battery should last a half a million miles… (yeah I’ve seen that one YouTube video with the dude blowing up his Tesla with a dead battery)

A BMW won’t last half as long as a Tesla. Once a BMW turns a hundred grand they aren’t worth a shit.. You’re gonna be dumping money into them. Not like a Tezla.. lol

Gonna have to call BS Dan. Our BMW got 220,00 miles. Sure a lot of repairs were warranty but I think we got more than our moneys worth.

I’m hoping in a few years down the road a few thousand will keep my no car payment intact.

My bimmer. I sold in I think 2021.
I guess it’s still alive. Makes me happy.

Should? How long is the battery warranty? How many people do you personally know with half a million miles?

Yeah Tesla’s suck. S, Model 3, Cybertruck - do not buy them if you do not like them…
* I enjoy the fact that the S looks the same as newest model and vintage 10 years later.
* Although the current market value on my S is 20K. The battery is in perfect shape and I enjoy the free unlimited super charging (discontinued in 2017 as an option)
* Sending it to the dealer for tires and adjusting a door handle has been a bitch.
* Wife wanted a new vehicle after 10 years, did not need one - my reservation number on the cybertruck got called. It is the same price as my Raptor or any other new full size SUV maybe have not checked into Yukon, Tahoe, I know the Escalade is stupid money. That was what she wanted that is what I gave her.
* 99% sure @Sharpshooter will think the boat you guys drive is for pussies but I manage to still make it through life..
* I will most likely beat you in a race to Vegas every time from my desk at work to the strip.

I'm with Shintoo & D Lorenze on an EV. . . .

I drive a cheap ass Chebby Bolt as an every day driver.

The tax credits and, as an every day driver/grocery getter are perfect use for an EV,

Chevy rates the Bolt at 266 HP. Guy on Youtube put one on a dyno and it was over 300HP.

Drive it on a long trip. . . (250-400 miles) no fukin way. I'll take the gas guzzler Silverado. I can gas up at any station in 10 minutes. Don't need a special adapter if I go to a Shell, Conoco, Maverick, Sunoco, etc..

Nope.... They break down.. I've owned two new 5 series.. They don't last.. You said it best "Sure a lot of repairs were warranty but... "
BMW's aren't what they used to be..

No one is having problems with them... It's just all internet talk.... The warranty on mine is 8 years or 100k miles, exactly DOUBLE the warranty of a new BMW ...

I'm not interested in the BMW comparison. I'm interested in real world info about the EV's from owners. So, an 8-year warranty tells me that's how long they expect zero issues from the battery. Maybe we're not far enough into these things to assess how long they really will last. For me that's an important detail.

I think the electric revolution is great! BUT so are the old gas-powered vehicles. I think we "NEED BOTH" in today's society! What we don't need is the LIBTARDS telling us that this is the "ONLY" way! Especially that the damage that is being done and not being reported about within these gigantic lithium mines. These pits rival anything that the coal industry ever did. And how do you think they are being mined? Mostly with diesel powered vehicles and mining equipment. FUCKING HYPOCRITES! Yet, it's okay as long as it is in the name of CLIMATE CHANGE!

I’m 5 plus years ownership into our Model 3. Love it everytime I drive it. If and when it’s time for power pack replacement I’ll more than likely do it, as long as it’s not 10’s of thousands, without complaint.
I hate car payments.
