I think the truck will sell despite its less than appealing looks but the market will reach its full potential very early. After all the “I want something different” crowd has their fill Tesla can do a aesthetic makeover and sell a few more.

I usually enjoy Elon and his publicity stunts. I do own a tesla y performance that we love (wife’s daily) not a fanboy but enjoy watching what he’s done.

this was painful to watch for me and I turned it off.

Musk is a genius if he can get the order books filled.

The cost to stamp those extremely simple panes is minuscule compared to a traditional complex stamping.

Combined with the Gigapress, it’ll cost him little to manufacture these.

This will sell because it’s a Tesla. But an expensive car with a bed will have limited reach.

Actual price and range on the Cybertruck is a disappointment. 440 miles with the range extender means about 400 once the battery settles in. And if you’re gonna go faster than 65mph let’s call the range 300 miles, and cut that in half for towing, for a 100k? This thing was suppose to be way cheaper. Most of the orders will cancel for sure, then prices will drop like they did with the models 3 and Y..

The original price was before Covid and inflation. Everyone knew the cost was going to be 75 or more.
While the towing capacity has stayed the same, the range sucks. Articles are saying the range is 50% when towing :(

None of us knew what that actual numbers were gonna be. It was just a lot of hearsay on the interweb. All I'm saying is that the range doesn't match the asking price..

I’ve said all along this truck was an overpromise and under deliver.

I have no issues with the price.
As I have stated since the beginning, if the range sucks while towing, I am out. I will wait and see before I cancel. my Target delivery was 2026 Q1.
I can’t see any appreciable improvements in technology that are going to make the range acceptable for towing. There is no harm in waiting it out.

And by the way, The "Cyberbeast" version is 100k with only 320 miles of range. Then add the "Range Extender" is another 16k? Plus tax and fees.. Should we call it 125k ?? This will be the ultimate OC yuppie mobile.. lol

When do these things become the next Hummer H2 - a gaudy, tone deaf symbol of mindless opulence? Or will that be the actual Hummer EV?

Or will that even happen? The virtue signaling people always turn on each other.

LMAO

These greenies lament wasteful ICE cars, but have no problem with wasteful EV’s

Like the ad agency I worked at, full of lefties, oil is bad.

And the moment they’re eligible for a company car, no one is taking a Prius, they get V8 SUVs

LOL because a 9,000 lb GM e-Hummer is going to cool the planet. :)

I don't know why he made it a "novelty trinket" truck vs a usable truck with a cutting edge design and a 450 mile range. He would have shut the door on GM etrucks.

GM ford and stellantis are already struggling to survive. The Biden administration is digging their hole

EV's are never going to work at a competitive price for long towing options. Batteries are expensive and heavy so you need to find the happy medium for a competitive price not build a truck for the 5% that want to tow the boat 4 hours to the lake. Most trucks never haul or tow and the other half use them for home depot runs.

Throw the 400 mile towing range out the window.

F150 platinum goes for nearly 80k right now. Aside from long distance towing distance what does the Ford do better? Technology...nope Performance ...nope etc...

I agree it looks like shit and if they could have made this thing look more like a rivian with the Tesla company backing it would be a game changer.

In reality this isn't going up against fords and chevys. Rivians are 90k and the Hummer EV is 110k.

Go be poor somewhere else situation...haha

Yes. This isn't replacing a ICE truck for people with hobbies unless their hobbies are hiking, kayaking or biking. It is another car they use while their actual truck is parked.

I would argue the Ford has a higher build quality than the Tesla though. $50K + EVs are for the unpoor.

Thing looks like a tent.... but it'll sell

Just like all the soccer moms running around range rovers, G wagons, jeeps and ford raptors.... 90% of people don't use them for their intended purpose

Bullet proof is a cool feature

Build quality is fair. Maybe resale as well shall see.

Sooner than later he is going to launch the model 2 with a good around town range for 25k and they will sell all of them. Elon is a genius little boy that is building whatever he wants. Problem is he was high and only had an etch a sketch in his office when he designed the cyber truck...lol

Yes. I would have already shoved my wife into an EV Civic or Corolla for the endless Target trips for $25K if it was a thing. I'm a buyer when that happens.

Yeah...I'm not sure if she is being shoved into anything called a civic or corolla at this point:D

No Thanks. I'll stick to my F350 Diesel Enviro Killer that has a range of 600 Miles pulling a 16K# Toyhauler with the A/C Blasting Ice Cubes. :p:p:p

This review video from Haggarty is Oscar worthy! It doesn’t change my mind about the Cybertrucks basic usability but it does highlight that it is an amazing development.

I think there is definitely initial demand for this truck being that it's new and something completely different than any other car or truck out there. We'll see if it will last. I'm sure this truck will work for most people who "need" a truck just like most people who "need" a jeep lol. People on RDP don't fall in the "most people" category.
Call Shintoooo for the all important details:

Now that reports are confirming the Cybertruck’s weight exceeds 6,000 lbs, businesses that purchase it can immediately deduct the full price as a tax write-off under IRC Section 179. By pairing this deduction opportunity with setting up the business as an S corporation, individuals stand to save tens of thousands in taxes while owning one of the most eagerly anticipated vehicles ever unveiled.

I’m starting to shop for my next company car (l need it around summer of 2025).

I’m starting to feel rushed. It took me 6 months in June 2022 to find a new car in Phoenix. I don’t want to wait again like that. I still didn’t get adaptive cruise.

I thought by now, the EV Charger would be on the lots to test drive.
