We are taking the SXS's to Big Bear this weekend and wondered if anyone had any recommendations on staging areas or trails for them.

Looking forward to pictures and a full ride report.

I have never been up there but I thought I heard you could stage of Cleghorn Trail and actually take Cleghorn trail all the way into Big Bear.

I googled and found this also:

East Pilot Rock Trail - 2N33 to 173
Take 173 north a couple of miles to Willow Creak Jeep Trail
East on Willow Creek Jeep Trail to Spirit Ranch Road
South on Spirit Ranch Road to Hook Creek Road
East on Hook Creek Road to Dishpan Springs
East on Dishpan Springs Jeep Trail - 3N34 (black diamond) to 2WO3
East of 2WO3 to Crab Flats Road
South on Crab Flats Road to 3N16
East on 3N16 (Unfortunately Holecomb Creek Trail 3N93 is closed)
You can take 3N16 all the way to the east side of Big Bear Lake (Hwy. 18)

There is really no area I know of besides cactus flats and a portion of rose mine area where you are able to legally operate a off highway vehicle.. If you had a plate on it it would be a different story, but you are probably better off to go out to Johnson valley if you don't want to be bound by a little area.

If you go to Cactus Flats please watch for cattle on 3N03, we are trying to round them up. Sometimes they make it to the road but it's deer hunting season and that is another problem altogether. If you see loose cattle off of 3N03 please call me at 7605592198.

We all have AZ plates but dumb ass CA doesn't recognize them! We have gone to whooped out Johnson Valley and camped but didn't have much fun, so since we have a house rented in Big Bear we wanted to check it out with the SXS's![emoji106]

Ca does not recognize Az plates on off road vehicles? Are you supposed to have a sticker too?

Not on SXS's so we have ours greens stickered also. If you came from AZ to like Glamis I believe you have to get an out of state off road sticker here.

We've gone up there a few times. We've always staged just up past Silverwood Lake. Start there and go up always great times. I'm old and can't remember the staging area right now.

Maybe Miller? We have staged by the dam and ran over to Arrowhead!

Not true . California recognizes all other states off road permits . Only if you come from a state like Colorado where they're in as ont register off road things do you need to buy a out of state off road permit . California is just stupid to not recognize that a 70 mph sxs that is licensed and insured is only safe in az and not ca .

So we had fun but got a late start and only got to go about 12 miles in before we turned around. We didn't see any cows but quite a few hunters. We all would like to go back and get a full day in now that we know how to get there and where we are going.
