I have a stock 16 rzr xp4 1k and am running 30 x10R14's right now and am in need of replacing them.

I was wondering what others are recommending for mainly hard pack/desert/rock and some street use?

I see Maxxis Liberty weighs in at 34 lbs and STI Chicane RX at 38lbs. I am concerned with tire weight since I have stock clutch springs and would like to stay out of the 40+ pound range. I don't want to go any bigger on tire size either.

I am trying to get the best bang for my buck in that I can find a tread that doesn't wear off like warm butter every time I hit asphalt.

Any advice will help
Thanks in advance
Dan

You all recommend pushing a 32" tire with what I think is a stock Polaris clutch and suspension? I am running 30" right now and haven't had any issues.

Go with tensor tires in my opinion for a non-turbo car you should stick with 30s

If you plan on keeping it,step up to 15" wheels and 31/10.5 bfg,s.You will never run out of tire.A friend of mine has had them on for 5 yrs and still look great.

If you want to stick with 14” rims, I’d look at the ITP Ultracross 31x9.5x14. Measures 31.1 inflated and is only 37.9lbs.

I have ITP Ultracross 30x10x14's on there now and previous owner put them on in 2016. 2600 miles and finally starting to get to low for my liking in the rear. I already rotated front to back one time. Fronts still have about 6mo left on them.
I have no complaints about these tires except they seem to not like asphalt at all.
I am running them at the PSI Polaris says for the vehicle also. l could probably go a little bit lower but I thought that would cause more wear.

I was wanting to go maxxis liberty but out of stock till july 5th everywhere I look. Discount tire trying to rip me off for two tires at 424.68 out the door. I have been with discount for many many years and spent lots of money there. I may need to speak to a manager.

I however found STI Chicane RX's for $182 each mounted and balanced out the door from another shop in town.

I have 1400 miles on my Tensor Regulators and they easily have 1000 miles left. They take a beating and keep on going.

I've had Tensors before and now I have 31" Chicanes. I would buy the Tensors if I had to do over again. Chicanes feel squirrelly AF in the dirt, but on road they're awesome. I put about 3500 miles on the Tensors and never had a problem.

I’m running 31” Chicanes on 14” Method 401’s on my XP1K4. Put about 500 miles on them so far on the stock Clutch with no problems. The ride quality over the stock Bighorns is impressive! The extra sidewalk sucks up a lot of terrain. It’s like adding another 2” of travel and the extra ride height is great!

I have 2 sets of sxs tires in the classifieds. One BRAND NEW set of ITP ultracross 32x10x15s. Yes, for a 15 inch wheel.

The other set is OEM takeoffs. Price is right on those

Contact me for RDP bro deal if interested

That’s way to much money for 2 Ultracross. Shit amazon has them for $140 a tire, try a quick google search I’m sure you can find them even cheaper with free shipping.

Any tire recommendations in a 29x9x12 size? I have Bighorns on it now, and was thinking of Bighorn 2.0 in 26x9x12. Any other tire I should look at? Was also considering Sunf A043.

I do hard pack, loose rock, and soft dirt around Havasu, and also street driving.

The tusk terrabites supposedly work very well on lower cc rigs like the rhino. Won't break the bank and they come in smaller sizes!

Honestly the square edge tires a lot of people are recommending in this thread "look cool" but tend to track in the ruts.. I'm running 30 inch Mongrels and have been extremely satisfied. I drive my car a lot on the street and in the dirt, and am at I think 2700 miles.. I punctured a sidewall, and they came out with a new Mongrel.. My OCD couldn't sit so I just replaced all six of them.

Unfortunately for the thread I just gave all of them away tonight, but I'd guess they had another 800-1000+ miles in the tires before I would've replaced them.

Thank you all for the information. I like the square edge look too but I have read that it can cause issues with wear on the CV joints/suspension and I also heard that they do have issues in ruts now from 2 separate people plus RD.

I think I am going to go with a rounded edge style tire. I really like the 30" size as that is what I have on there now.

I do find they float a little bit in the soft sand wash at high speed but great every where else . I only have like 500 or 600 miles on mine now .

I have been going through this search for a few months. Have a XP1k. The consensus is that the Bighorn is still among the best for function on all terrains, but susceptible to punctures. We ride in dunes, then air up and head out across the desert and into the mountains of northern Nevada.
I am looking for a tire that will give up nothing in the dunes to the Bighorns but perform better at higher speeds and in the desert and mt. roads / old deteriorated trails we run on.
Right now I am looking at the Sedona Rock A Billy and the Airisun Aftershock. The aftershock has some serious believers on glamisdunes.org Also watching tire weight, already clutched for paddles and don't want to change that every time I swap tires.
I know one guy who tried the ITPs mentioned and ultimately went another direction.

A friend of mine just went with the aftershocks and seems to be happy with general desert and rock riding. We don't do any dune riding. I have the ITP's as that is what came on my xp41k when I bought it. No complaints except they don't seem to like asphalt and wear fast in the rear due to the non slip rear end. I am leaning towards Maxxis liberty - if I can find them as they seem to be back ordered until July 5th. I also am leaning toward STI Chicane RX.

The ITP Ultracross SUCK in the dunes/sand but are hard to beat in the desert hard pack and rocks.

You are spot on with the Bighorn, probably the best all around tire on the market. They are also they best tire for sand other than actual paddles.

That is my conundrum, they are great in the aired down in the sand and on hardpack but are not so good when it comes to puncture resistance and at high speed. I have been very lucky that on this set no punctures so far but as a group we have stopped to plug them at least a dozen times over the years.
Later this spring we are planning an excursion into some areas that don't see much traffic, like perhaps less than once a year.. and are a long, long way from camp...50 miles or more.
Mine have about 1000 miles on them now. We will carry a spare or two amongst our group but changing tires on the trail is a pain.

With your set up there is no question in my experience and opinion...

Tensor Regulators, the DS’s are nice but you will be replacing them sooner than you want. Stay with the 30” unless you plan on making some upgrades to clutch.

Keep it simple. If you have the ability to upgrade to a 15” wheel I think you find a great matchup!

Well after some discussion with another Discount tire near by me I was able to get the price I wanted and was quoted from another non discount tire shop on the chichane rx's 181$ installed and balanced out the door price.

Hoping I made a good choice. My pocket book cant afford the Tensor's as weight is an issue also. Chicane RX is Radial 8ply dot approved. Maxxis Liberty's are on perm back order due to lack of orders. From what I was told only 25 people want them right now so production of that model has stopped. Bummed as it looked like promising tire!

Did you check the weight on the chicane? Idk about the smaller sizes, but When I was looking at the 32x10x15, they were Heavy AF, relative to others. The new itp coyote are also crazy heavy.

Also really wanted the liberty but they were not going to be available in my size for quite a while. Looked promising as they were super light...

I run 31" ITP Ultracross R Spec tires on my 2017 XP 4 1000 non- turbo, stock clutch and they are a great tire for the desert, lots of racers run these, they are UTV tires. I don't think they are DOT approved.

Itp Ultracross r spec 30x10x14r are 35.5 lbs each

Sti Chicane RX 30x10x14r are 37.4 lbs each

I just don't want to break the 40lb per tire mark, if I do I have been told that I need an aftermarket clutch kit installed.
