I’d think half the issue is finding a place to park it and the other is doing a full wipe down after each day. Wiping down deck boat isn’t a ton of fun. Wiping down a 35’ Nordic sucks way more. Can’t imagine full boat every day. I know some don’t worry about it because they hire it out but still has to suck.

@Hammer does HIH allow other boat brands to join? The eliminator regatta is trash. All the HIH runs and threads looks like so much fun! Haah

LOTO takes it to a whole different level than DS. I never did grasp why DS cant involve the community, local businesses beyond boat businesses, etc. Havasu isnt as big and the shootout is usually leaves much to be desired and mismanaged or blown out while the LOTO event is well oiled, televised, and as far as I can remember hasn't been cancelled due to weather.

r city as all performance boat owners and manufacturers know of this event. Not to mention every hotel was sold out last year. Had a bunch of people
If you are canceling a poker run because you can’t launch and retrieve your boat, I stand by my statement. Sorry not sorry.
Ya I won’t go any where if I don’t have a slip. I’m out!🤣

I think it's pretty amusing that people say Havasu is so small. It's not the ocean, but compared to other "performance boat lakes" it's not exactly that small. LOTO from Big Dicks to Coconuts (one side of the lake to the other) is only roughly 37 miles or so. Lake Lanier is only like 25 miles long. Pickwick / Tennesse river is pretty long at like 50 miles but theirs locks and shit. Long Beach to Catalina is what 27 mile? Hell, even Miami to Key West is only 150 mile run.

You run from the springs to the Needles bridge it's EASY 50 miles and beautiful scenery. There's a reason people from all over the country keep coming back. Though, I would like to see more destination bars and restaurants on the water like LOTO and other performance boating lakes. Boating in LOTO is bitchen. Run from one place to the next, dock, wade in the pool and order drinks and eat at the swim up bars, DJ's pumpin' jams, people partying everyone. Just a different style of boating.

How do those lakes handle the mingling of slow moving smaller boats and the larger faster boats ? The last couple of years the spill over from the desert storm weekend is bringing bigger and more larger boats down to parker . The normal 30 footers is bad enough but its really starting to get dangerous mixing the range in size and speed .

The biggest problem with havasu is there’s just not much private property on the lake everything is controlled by the government. Look at the hoops the guy up at Topock66 has to go through to dredge the channel.

So arent the boats not showing up for the first event the same exact boats that show up for DS?
School me here because I dont own a 40’ cat and never will unless my crypto goes to the moon!
So I show up to Havasu with my million dollar showpiece in tow. I have a spot reserved at let’s say the islander. Got my coach parked there and a second spot for my overflow.
There are no docks available until the next week because of a pissing match between organizers.
So…I launch my 40’ bad ass and drive around all day. Now I have to trailer it for the night…OK.
Where exactly can I safely park it?
Remember, there is a bunch of us in this same position. I’m not leaving my M41 at Walmart. I can’t park it on the street. Islander won’t let me stage it in the lanes because they don’t do that and there’s another dozen guys that want the same thing.

The point is that your “prima Donna’s” are the same exact boats in both events. All you are doing is calling them names for showing up a week early.
What am I missing here?

So much to unpack in your op-Ed Tommy boy, I’m flattered you put so much time into your rebuttal to my post however . Most of it isn’t worth arguing about, since you and I don’t get make any decisions to alter the outcome of whether or not SCFW happens or has dock space. Here’s an idea though. Instead of SCFW trying to put an event on the week before DS, why not do it the week after? Maybe the docks that they so desperately need to feel safe with their 40’ boats would be available then. Since Jim and Jimmy spent 20 plus years building up DS to the event it is, maybe you don’t try to upstage them and put your event on the week before and reserve all their dock space that they paid for. It’s really a slap in the face to DS if you ask me. Just my opinion.

Well frankly, those lakes I mentioned are wider at most parts over Parker. I dont necessarily see the pont of putting a larger boat on Parker. Seems a bit sketchy to me.

Yeah, I get that. Bit there are some options to do cool
Stuff even at the current spots that are on the water. Just need to dump some money in and have some vision. Even the riviera isn’t meeting their full
Potential with their marina / restaurant. Restaurant will be on the point, on the water but I really think they’re missing a big opportunity to put a pool and bar in right at the point.

And what happened to that plan at cat tail ? Black meddows would be a cool spot to put a restaurant bar and pool in! Could be done on the ca side by that casino too.

We just like to have a good time! Boat or not, we will find you a seat if you want to come out. 👍No egos at my Event, love the Hallett Owners. They are the best!

Desert storm week is non boat week for us. Same as 4th of July.
Doesn’t bother me not getting on the water either time.
It’s too crowded. But I’m aware of that going out.
The town is no more crowded than the piro show in a few weeks.

I agree with a lot of what you’re saying but I just don’t think there’s anybody willing to dump any money into anything out here, I’m sure Pirates and Topock have spent plenty of money. Maybe we need to call in Jon Taffer to advise us.😂

I think desert storm would be better off in October but that’s not gonna happen either. A lot less wind.

SCFW was going to be the week after DS this year.. the docks were rented from Desert Storm (Storm poker runs) last year btw.

We don’t have dock space problems. I have it taken care of without the need of Todd Taylor or DS. To be fair most attendees have a place in Havasu. We still make accommodations though. 👍

Docks are not preventing SCFW from happening. It’s one of a few minor things that needed to be worked out. Obviously it’s a mute point now.

They would loose some of the entries because in October some of them will go to poker runs around the country, October is pretty good around the USA

Even with the Swiffer and moderate temps that thing is a beast to wipe down. That being said, I’m up for boat bitch again this year👍

This is another reason why SCFW west is done right around DS. There are other events around the country that east coast guys won’t miss to come to Havasu. It also makes sense for them
to come out west for two events. The odds of him coming out west two different times from the east coast is unlikely.

I understand that, just as mine did I was cashed my checks and watched San Diego become another LA. But I didn't go to Havasu because of monetary opportunities, I went to remove myself from that environment and enjoy the beauty the waters of Havasu once offered.
The gorge has become a freeway, hell, even 10 years ago you could sit on a beach up river during the week and count on one hand how many boats would pass all afternoon. Now, fuck me, it's like that every 5 minutes.
Really sounds like that blue pill put a real sour to your soul. We boat 30-35 days at least a year, and the majority of time it’s M-Th. But does that sour me that more and more have found the water for relaxation and recreation? Absolutely not, much rather see all the families out than dad at the bar mom at the mall and kids on video games or other stupid shit.

You found the oasis early when there where less boats, smaller boats etc. I’m sure your 20’ boat pissed a lot of 16’ boaters off at one time. It’s a sign of time, like homes and everything else.

Catch up or get run over!!

Please, run me over, then I can afford a nice 65' CC with 6 Merc 600's, the perfect Havasu boat and if I don't awaken from my coma, my kids will dig it I'm sure. 👍

Borrowed this from the Facebook Thread, seems to sum it up nicely. 😁

I’d sit on that porch with you!

On a side note, 65’ CC with half a gaggle of outboards sounds more suited for Parker?

When I come looking for a fight, I roll up on my jetski, after running circles in front of a poker run fleet.

The crowds at Desert Storm are terrible…

View attachment 1085103
The worst part of DS is bobbing and weaving through the non-DS traffic. Getting from Nautical through the channel can get intense. The boat traffic from Thompson bay to copper canyon can be fun. There’s plenty of room on the lake if someone wants to duck out
