Turning on the whole house fan without closing the flue damper.
Cleaning the fireplace ashes without making sure the filter is in and on inside the shop vac.

Turning on the water to fill the pool and go to Costco

That’s just today. 😱🙄

Could be worse. . . .

Carrying the shop vac up the stairs and back out to the garage. . . . bottom comes un-hooked from the top and goes flying down the stairs crop dusting 1/2 the house. BTDT

Opened a beer when I already had a drink made..... I recovered.

My PIA thing is soldering two wires together on ANY project, and when it looks all pretty and I am so proud - SHIT forgot to put the heat shrink on before doing that - - - out comes the liquid electrical "tape" - 3 coats and done.

We had a 36” belt drive whole house fan in Atlanta. Sounded like a turbo prop. Turned in on in early spring. Damn pollen was everywhere

Look into those shop-vac bags. Things are awesome and once it's full, just pull it out of the vacuum and toss in the garbage. I recommend them for ashes and saw dust, because your filter plugs up super fast.

if you have a standard backflow valve, buy one of battery operated actuators. I put one in years ago and it is set to run about 8 minutes a day during the summer, off during the winter. Keeps the pool within 1/8 inch. Occasionally, with heat spells, I'll add a couple minutes.

Yep...have them in the garage shop vacs...
My wife discovered these disposable liners for her slow cookers...what a life saver those things are upon cleanups...

I have one of these on all my hoses. I like to turn the hose on and deep water.

This cheap manual timer has saved me at least a $1000. 😉

Just did a pool remodel - added an autofill - love it. The only thing I and others need to be cautious of, if there is a leak, you may not discovery it right away.

I had an auto fill on my pool, basically the a float valve like you have on a toilet or swamp cooler. My pool would have been a mess without it. Lol

I did the fire place thing before. Had the shop vac so the exit hose was going outisde a window. Well at some point the hose got knocked out the window so the ash was just getting blow around inside. By the time I stopped and turned around you coudln't see inside the house. Looked like thick smoke, nope just ash in the air in the whole house. Also killed my expensive vacumm, started making a beiring noise after that and siezed up shortly after that.

Why would you turn on the pool water with all this rain? 😂😂
Did a back flush and then decided F it just clean the whole filter system.
Pool was down about 2 inches, so I thought I'd just turn the water on for a few minutes. That didn't work out so well lol

It snowed Friday night, all night. Wife and I had to leave 8am Saturday morning to get lab work. I remote started the truck once. Then when I tried to remote start the second time I was pushing the unlock button. On this truck if you hold the unlock button all the windows roll down. I stood there and watched the windows go down and the snow fall right in all over the seats and everything else inside. Then I get to the hospital and I cannot find my lab papers so I couldn’t even do what I set out to do.FML

You ever leave the backwash valve open and forget it? Next morning you wake up and the pool is pretty much empty. I’ve done that before. 😬

Wife has an excellent folding shade lounger she folded up nice and tight and stored under the Can Am in the Toy hauler.

This lounger her favorite after buying and junking 3 previous that sucked.

I backed over it backing out the Can Am.

Fixed it. Bent it all back into shape.

Forgot she put it back in the TH and I backed over it again.

One my buddies son picked up 5 gallons of gas for the bikes. He put it in the back of his Jeep and it tipped over, all 5 gallons in the back. It gets better he decided he would be smart and use the shop vac to clean it up. Lol. The vac caught on fire and he got the hose to put it out. Lmao. He sent a pic to his dad of fire going down the street in the gutter.

No brains no headaches

I did that. The timer came on at midnight and drained the pool down the hill down to below the skimmer line.

OK here it goes....My 2018 Cummins Ram gives me a MIL at 50,400 miles. Great, so I scan it and its a specific Crankcase Ventilation code.
Now I could have popped the hood 1st but you know....ah ha if you change the oil put the cap back on dumbass. Problem solved and reset the code.
Good thing the top of the battery holds the cap well.

Oh yea, I should check the oil in case I blew some out. Yep 1/2 a quart low so I add the oil.

Not 50 miles later MIL back on. WTF? I open the hood, yep did not put the oil cap on yet the second time.

I really need to back off the 12-14 hr work days.

I remember this like it was yesterday. Mid 70's, I was changing the water pump on my 68 Buick Riviera and it was not going well. I said screw it, I'm not going to fight it, I'll just pull it into the garage...... while pumping 5 quarts of ATF all over the driveway.

Was installing canned lights / bathroom fan once.
Had a young kid up in the crawl space (really tight) helping out.
My buddy had serious rotten gut and says 'watch this' . . .
Switches the shop vac around so it's 'blowing', takes the nozzle and puts it up in the ceiling hole . . . then backs his ass right up to the shop vac intake - rips a nasty one, then clicks the 'on/off' switch on the shop vac for a quick second !!!!!
Just a quick 'Puff' . . . . . totally smogged out the kid !!!! . . . he was LIVID !!!
We thought he was gonna fall through the ceiling !!!!!!!
We laughed so damn hard . . . who the hell thinks of that ??????
😅😂🤣

I’m working on my own best story. But for now I have this one.

Guy who worked at my shop. Go change the oil in the F250. Ok. Drains the transmission, adds 6 more quarts to the engine. Test drive blows up the transmission and the engine. Good times

We used to have an above ground fire pit In the back yard. Had a nice fire one Friday night. Next day decided to clean up and pour the burnt out coals into the trash can. Then ran off to kids sports. Got the call from the neighbors, hey, your house is on fire!……

Just a couple months changed the radiator in my truck. Somehow one cooler line didn't get latched in all the way. Now there is a big line of transmission fluid from my house down the street past RD's and around the corner.

One of the dumbest things I have seen... A couple of years ago the local weed dealer cleaned out his fireplace while the embers were still hot, he put the embers in a plastic bucket and put the bucket in his laundry room while he napped...................lost the house.

Considering our lives today vs. the lives of our ancestors 200, 100 or even 50 years ago.. we are all beyond lazy. I don’t think a crock pot liner makes a bit of difference :).

House had been closed up for awhile obviously due to the rain. Just like the fresh air coming through for a bit.
Keep the heater at only 64 so it not a big deal to warm it back up.

Here is my stupid dumb ass move story. I had about 250 Hrs on my Boostpower 1000 blower motor. I decided it was time for a freshen up, and to I was worried that the valvetrain was tired. I called Alexi, and he had been in a horrible accident, and couldn’t get to it. So, I took the advice of a good buddy, and used his engine builder he’s used for his trophy truck. I’d met his several times, he seemed Like a nice guy, and after our conversations I felt good about using him. Mind you, this was a running engine, good oil psi, no smoke, started good, pulled hard still. Well, he started into it, and it was one bad discovery after another. He couldn’t bad mouth Alexi enough. This was wrong, that was wrong, etc. He tells me the crank is cracked. Pistons have been contacting the valves. So, after almost a year, and $25k, my refresh is now a complete rebuild. I wanted to be there for the dyno, and I kept hearing from him, next week, next week, next week. Finally I get a call, that it’s ready to pick up. I asked about the dyno, and he said, oh, I forgot to call you, I did that last week. Great. I was a little disappointed to say the least. In addition to that, he said that all the engine made is 700 hp. And that Alexi is a liar that it was a 1000hp motor. I would have liked to try and run more boost on the dyno, and jetting, tune, etc, but wasn’t given the choice. Oh well, let’s run it on the water at see.
I put the boat in the water at Castle rock shores, and fire it up. I’m warming it up, as the kid parks the truck. He comes down to the dock, I pick him up, and we idle into the river. He’s looking for leaks, I’m waiting for oil temp to come up, watching fuel pressure, water temp etc. all looks good. So I bring it on plane, at about 2000 rpm, and it looks good. Water coming out the pipes, water dumps, etc. The whole time my kid is next to the engine, looking for leaks, checking temps on the pipes, etc. I get down to Echo, and am coming up Sundance. I decide to give it a little more. I’m at 3000 rpm, and it’s getting sluggish. Temps look good, psi looks good. The boy yells to me, “We’ve got a ton of smoke coming out of the breathers!” It then starts to tighten up, and I come out of it, off plane, and it lays down. Game over. I call the builder, and he says to bring it to him. The next week, I get the engine to him, and he starts into it. He calls me and says either I ran it out of water, or detinated it, or abused it all weekend. I said, we’ll, I’ve got video of the whole experience, and that’s not what happened. I wanted to know the cause, not who’s to blame. I asked him what is the next step, and what are we gonna do? He then tells me,” I don’t know what went wrong, but all I know is I’m not eating this”
I was definitely bummed out. I had started my new career, and from the time I took delivery to the time I was able to do anything about the engine, a year had elapsed. I was passed the one year mark for any legal action, as far as I could tell. Alexi reached out to me and said to get the engine to him. He then discovered what all had happened. Essentially, the first guy used the wrong rings for blower application, in addition to the wrong pistons. The rings never sat, and the pistons scuffed the bores, and I was looking at a new engine block. He’d also ruined the valve seats, and un engineered the valve train as well. New heads. Several other blunders also, such as the wrong intake manifold gasket, sucking air, mix matched bearing manufacturers, and a long list of incompetent little things.
Since then Alexi has built me a new engine, all the old stuff thrown away, sold, etc. new long block, same blower, carbs, pipes, this time a little more spice.
So, in conclusion, I was trying to do the right thing, and got ripped off by a complete crook. I should have known, he was one of those guys that bragged about himself non stop, and bad mouthed everyone else non stop. He’d ran this business, he ran that business. He knew this guy, and raced with that guy. Real pros like Alexi don’t need to brag, or talk shit. Their work stands up on its own. I should have gone after him, but I didn’t. Life got in the way.

We've been popping open a window on occasion. I love the fresh air, but if the house gets below 70, I might be eating worms.🤣

Changing oil on daughters SUV.... while sliding the drain container under the car I'm distracted by a screw in the front tire...

I forget to remove the plug for the drain container and start draining the oil...

Cant figured out WTF.. why isn't the oil going into the container??

Stick my finger in the oil pan drain hole but too late.... about 3 quarts running down the driveway

Many years ago got truck stuck in a river above lake Piru..

hydraulic the engine... Once I got pulled out of the river and on dry land, had to change the oil & plugs..

As I'm pouring new oil into the filler Cool Change yells out.. "You forgot to put the drain plug back in"

Forgot one fuck out I did a few months back. Have a habit of folding 100 dollar bills 3 times and usually pretty tight. Normally start of trip I keep in my pocket and stopped for gas in quartzite bundled with 20s I put the 300 bucks in counter as I counted 80 bucks for gas.

Got to my moms I usually empty my pockets to set on small dresser I realized I’m missing the hundred dollar bills checked truck, wallet, pockets nothing but the small bills. YUP it came to me I left the 300 bucks on the counter 🙈🙈 my fault the way I looked at it after was I wasn’t robbed or money stolen I just hoped whoever found the money really needed it or it helped them out if they had unexpected expenses. Mistakes happen.

I moved wife's bmw suv out of the garage. Parked it in front of the next bay, door was closed.
10 minutes later I jump in truck, open garage and back out. The suv needed a new bumper and grill about that time.
No good way to show the wife what how dumb I was at that moment
