Yesterday afternoon I was asked by a friend I used to street race with (it's been a few years), if I would be interested in co driving his latest creation for the week. Actually the conversation was "Do you have any serious plans this week?" "Ok, you're my co-driver then!"

Just a LS powered S10. Motor made 1850hp with a pair of 66's, and is now running a super conservative setup and a monster (85mm) single turbo. Need to look over the logs, but it is a very low boost setup.
PXL_20230402_213605759.jpg

First pass went 7.4x (1/8th mile). Second pass was a 7flat, third pass went 6.63@110mph. truck has about 200miles on the street, so this should be an adventure! I think we are dialing in at 6.60, and giving her hell. Not going to dick with the tune during the week, but when (if!?!?) we get back to Shelby, it may get turned up a bit 😈

Will post pics and videos on this thread when wifi is available. Have lots of cameras, will try to get most of the competitors a pic or 2 in the pits.

Morning pics, roughly 2hrs til the track goes hot. 153 cars registered, but a decent dropout rate it sounds like.

I will be spreading the gospel of RDP thru the field, so hopefully we can gain a few inmates to tell me all the wrong things I'm saying about their cars...

Bailey is bringing his circus out west this year for “Death Week”. Suppose to be the longest (milage wise) drag-n-drive event yet. One of the legs will include a trip through Death Valley - hence the name. Should be pretty cool if you’re into that scene.

This looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Where or what tracks are you going to? How far apart?

150ish miles per day...
https://sestreetyeet.com/ has the details.

Currently experiencing the Ford life... Flex coupling in the crossover pipe decided to become a 2 piece 😲😱 80mm hairdryer, 26lbs of boost, and a little giggle gas

Gas stations hit a lil different with this group. The minivan is an EPIC sleeper. Will get details tomorrow.

Curious how the cops will be with cars like that.

Fixed it for you……

This one will push the truck WAY faster than the cage is certified for... Should be tickling 2khp turned up. 800 range for this trip. Aside from being cold blooded, it has been well behaved. Straight exhaust, lexan windows, no wipers, no sound deadening, you won't mistake it for a Bentley, but it's better than some things I've daily driven! Cage is good for 10.0 1/4 mile. The 6.43 eighth translates to a 10flat already😲🙄💔

If anyone is wondering how long it takes to repair a custom crossover pipe on the side of the road in rural South Carolina, 2 hours from pulling jacks out till rolling again.

Day one done.

PXL_20230404_035727755.jpg

Ran into a minor problem and had some bolts loosen up. Trouble is, they held the brake caliper bracket to the rear end! 3 of the 4 were loose, one decided the side of the freeway was a good resting place. 15 minutes to fix, 30 minutes to diagnose 🙄

Random pics from the one check in point for today. This is NOT the mustang that broke, this one is reliable and powered by a Chevy LS with twin hair dryers.

Sooooo the blue Vette with a pair of nitrous bottles where the passenger seat should be had a minor issue. He turned on the second nitrous stage, which is 100% untuned. It did a great impression of a south central drive-by, and backfired hard enough to bend 2 105mm throttle body plates and shafts!!! Not going to find replacements, so either fix them, or throw in the towel on day 1. The pics speak for themselves, and they were on the road last we heard. Trailer jack press for the win!

Right on ! Thanks for all the pics and info. Something like he this is on the bucket list. Looks like an absolute blast!
It looks like a lot of the Mustang guys are running LS engines. Are any of them running the new Ford 7.3 ?

Not that I've seen... Everyone wants fast and reliable, so no Ford motors 😁😂😜

Everyone has been ultra cool. No issues at all hanging out with these guys. Several guys bought cars in the last few weeks (including the flex pipe Ford), and are giving them a solid shakedown!

I am a glorified spectator. Built cars with the owner 25ish years ago to terrorize the street, but had nothing to do with this truck. I'm changing tires, and giving a quick nut and bolt to things, but that's the bulk of it.

Who wants carnage? I'm really hoping to get video of the MONSTER that did this. Absolutely ethereal scream comes in at 60'!

Very cool!

I'll bet @cyclone can offer a few tips for you.

I've been wanting to do a drag week event for several years now. I have this C3 Corvette that I've been trying to figure out what to do with. I've been thinking about turning it into a drag week car. I would focus on reliability first then make it faster over time.

Seen so many of the "big dogs" on YouTube turning amazing times but also breaking a lot. I'm way too old to be turning wrenches on the side of the road in the middle of the night. I'd rather go a little slower and make a decent pass at each track. I also don't have the budget for replacing broken stuff all the time.

I'll have to "sucker" someone to ride along with me too. Don't know how hard it would be to run solo. Are there any guys running by themselves there?

Will be following this for sure.

There are a few guys going solo. Trouble isn't at the track, it's the navigation between. Happy to share any contact and info I've got. It has been a great trip this far.

actually my track record at Drag and Drive events is mediocre. I won Drag Week in 2019, Got 2nd place in at Drag Week in 2018, finished Sick Week 2022 and got sixth place, but have DNF'd several other of these events. lol

.07 slow at 60', and .07 slow thru the trap...

Everyone is slow though. Adding a pound of boost on the brake, and going again!
