What's the purpose/benefit of straw/rice wattle? I haven't heard of them.

City requires them on many permitted jobs. I have had inspectors walk away if our BMP's aren't up yet. Wattles, wash out, dirt piles covers, trash covered..even if it is a trailer. I'm like.... dude! It's summer! There ain't no rain coming! Too bad. Get em set up and call me back.....

Yea, install them all the time. I'm wondering what the rice/straw mixture is for vs just straw?
Maybe that's what they've always been made of and I didn't realize the composition was rice and straw.

I just started a big grading job in Malibu and I come to find out that the cities plastic bag ban is not just for shopping bags. The ban includes the white plastic sand bags we have used for the last decade or so. Instead of buying filled plastic bags for less than a dollar each, I had to buy Burlap bags at almost 4 dollars each. Totally retarded libtard bullshit. The city grading inspector told me we should start a Hemp sand bag business and we would make a fortune!!

The rice swells up when it gets wet and seals up the gaps in the straw.

Love that had one bout 5 years back give me hell because I was cutting out a foundation. In the back of the house for access and did not have run off protection for the front storm drain... almost 7 feet higher...you always know your fucked when the inspector is wearing a suit

It’s basically a burlap wrap that makes it take longer to degrade compared to the “photo” degradable which is what the standard netting is
