I have the same setup. No slop but steering is stiff, which I like. First boat with dual ram but I'd imagine it's supposed to be stiff.

If you have full hydraulic steering, there should be no slop. My guess is you have hydraulic assist. In that case, the slop you feel is in the cable. When dual cylinder hydraulic assist is used the power steering pump doesn't put out enough volume through the high pressure fitting at idle. We drill out the orifice a little and it helps quite a bit.

I have a 99 Daytona with dual rams as well, and like was mentioned is a cable up to steering wheel. I put a new cable in and it fixed it slighly, but didn't completely remove the slop.

After seeing BDs response is got me trying to remember if it's worse at idle then at speed.

Would you mind being a tad more specific?
I have a single ram full hydraulic setup. It's stiffer than I'd like it to be. What size hole, if you don't mind saying?

We actually don't drill out the fitting on full hydraulic systems. We also don't install full hydraulic systems with only one cylinder. With 2 cylinders they help each other, one pushes while one pulls, etc. Without being able to check it out, it's hard to say if it's stiff because of one cylinder, or if there is a problem that needs to be addressed.

Because with one cylinder, the system is unbalanced, or has unequal volumes. Yep. Got it.

It'll turn quicker one way than the other.
