All this talk about starlink. How are you guys setting them up on your Motorhome?

I would like to have wifi while traveling so that eliminates the pole. Do i just set it on the dash?

If I mount it on top, I assume I need to run power to it correct? does the mini run on 12v? I have a sat dish I can grab power from.

Do i need an external router, or is it all built in?

Looks like I missed the mini sale.... I could have sworn it was $249 not long ago...

Just need a clear view of the sky. I’ve seen people using the flag pole mounts, suction cups, or just leaving them on the roof or ground. There are AC and DC power sources…

The older generation mini went on sale around Black Friday for $350ish. The new one is $599 from Tesla, but it just went on sale for $499 at a number of retailers. I bought mine today from Home Depot.

We first set it up on the dash, but then it got moved and we couldn’t get the angle right. The app will guide you on the angle placement. We moved it to a different outside and it worked great. We aren’t sure we will buy a mount, but it could get stolen just being on the table.

I've seen people use the suction cup mounts on roofs of trucks/SUVs. Not sure how well they would work on the roof of a Moho. Is it a rubber roof?

So they won't work under metal at all. fiberglass or plastic yes, so depending on the size of one of your vents you can mount there, it will run on 12 volts, the router is built in so power is all it needs, i mounted it in the cigarette under a hatch and it works great,

There a some people making sealed boxes for mounting on the roof. I have seen them in FB group starlink for RVers and other mobile users.

I have seen posts where people have removed the satellite dish from the dome and put the mini in there. Good for travel mode. Folk also say works well on dash. We just use ours stationary and use the Flagpole Buddy.

I have the PCI Wedge mount with mag feet (https://www.pciraceradios.com/colle.../starlink-mini-wedge-mount-with-magnetic-feet) and bought a suction cup set up off Amazon (https://a.co/d/ejOhwIc) to stick it on the side of the Moho and run the cable in through a window to power it up. The suction deal comes in 2 pieces and is suppose to snap into the triangle part of the SL but I just slid the plate with the ball mount on it under the PCI Wedge so it all stays together. Works really good

I like that mount, as my Newmar does not have a ladder for a pole mount.

Roof is fiberglass so it should work. I would feel more at ease if it was secured down though. Roof is 13’ and need to use a ladder to access.

I have an extra sat dome unit. MMMM

Mine is the traveler unit that looks like a sat dish the folds up.

A guy I work with bought a Starlink for his 4Runner. He's a bit of a prepper so he felt he wanted internet anywhere.

What he did is he mounted it to the roof rack he has, and then also bolted like 2-3 solar panels to the roof rack and uses that to power the starlink.
