So for the past couple months my starlink was still working well but not like the peak after i had it for about 6 months. I was down in the 100mbps range and about 15ish minutes downtime per day.
Seems like some firmware updates are making this much better, down to around 5 minutes down per day and speeds back near the 300mbps. Either way still better than the 24mbps my old DSL would do under absolutely ideal conditions.

Starlink has now issued a data cap at 1TB per month, this won't affect most users. It is only limited to data between 7am and 11pm local time, outside of that data doesn't count towards your total. Once you exceed this you will drop out of data priority and move to the "RV-Tier" of priority. Basically fixed dish customers always get higher priority than mobile units moving in and out of cells.

They also have a new "Flat" dish and "In-Motion" service that will work while you are moving (driving etc). This dish i'm sure has better GPS and probably an internal compass or inertial course system as they phase array antennas inside the dish must know your position and orientation to properly aim their signals to the satellites as they each pass the sky very quickly above you. The phase array aims the signal through wave form timing, and does not actually move the dish. (This is true for the standard ground models but since they are fixed they don't require as rapid positional updates since they rarely move)

We finally got StarLink about two months ago after an 18 month wait from when we first signed up. We were previously on HughesNet with a 100GB per month data limit paying $170/mo. so 1TB feels pretty generous as long as it stays there. Overall our experience has been great with very little downtime and the speed improvement is a game changer. We typically see 125Mbps using the StarLink app to monitor. In our area speeds do slow down to about 25 Mbps during peak use hours from 4 to 10 pm but not enough to impact our activities, so far. For reference HughesNet ran about 3Mbps.

We were so impressed that we bought a RV unit to use on our toy hauler in the winter and the houseboat in the summer. We could have simply added portability to our existing residential unit but climbing up on the roof to grab the Dishy every time we take a trip isn't really practical. StarLink also lets us suspend the service (and the bill) on the RV unit when we aren't using it.

We have since cancelled the two satellite TV contracts we had and use StarLink to stream entertainment. Even with the streaming service fees we are about $300 per month to the good on TV entertainment expense.

Overall very happy with the StarLink experience and looking forward to more birds in the air.

@Racey what utility or app are you using to aggregate performance data and downtime? The tools in the StarLink app and web portal only appear to provide snap shot data.

The amount of expansion they have done at their Hawthorne production facility in the last year alone is mind boggling. There was a mezzanine that was empty for years (MASSIVE square footage) that is almost up to 100% utilization, and complete dishes and dish components EVERYWHERE!!

Noticed one recently in an RV park, setting on the ground, and it seems everyday the antenna was pointed different. Are these antenna motorized and self aiming ?
Is this daily down time predictable and same time daily or just random ?

the dishy is motorized and aims North at this time, Just set it on the ground with a open N view and it does the rest. Elon want them to be idiot proof and they are. I take mine in my RV and never had a setting up or a response time problem. I had Suddenfail before this and only once hit the data cap which was 600gb at the time, so 1Tb should never be a problem. The only problem I have is my son has a dishy at his house in Washington and the upload speed sometimes causes a problem when I an Watching stuff on his Plex server( I get almost any movie or show that way).

http://192.168.100.1/statistics in your browser shows you live the last 15 minutes in a graph including downtime listed as per 24hours (unless the dish has recently rebooted and those numbers will say "last 12 hours"

It’s always trippy to be flying at night and see the huge line of starlink satellites in line.. There are some bizarre things to see up there..
