Lived in LHC for almost 12 years. Have never seen one of these. Then saw one yesterday and another today. Both in our RV garage and near a water source. Wolf Spider ? IMG_8357.jpeg IMG_8356.jpeg IMG_8355.jpeg

Smashed yesterday’s without taking a photo. Today’s got smashed 2 seconds after these photos. Had a buddy get really messed up by a Brown Recluse in OC. Just want to be sure it’s not a BR.

I stepped on a wolf spider once that had her babies on her back. I watched in horror as babies ran everywhere into my garage.

That day my bug guy had just sprayed the house and did a yard treatment. I suspect that's why I saw the spider in my driveway, but still seeing that shit was like seeing a horror movie.

I’ve read about females wolf spiders carrying their young on their back. Also some female WS kill and devour the male after they mate. Tough crowd.

Buddy bit by that brown recluse lost considerable tissue mass on his back and shoulder. Never did fully return. Bad deal.

Killed one (wolf spider) in my house a few days ago. Knew it was different than others I had seen, here in LHC, thanks for the info.

You guys are sissies.

When I go outside at night with my LED headband light on, I see hundreds of glowing wolfie eyes in the grass staring back at me.

This one was outside our front door last year. She was about 2½" from leg tip to leg tip. Lookit all of those little terrors on her back, ready to make the manliest man RDP'er run away screaming.

😁

You ever get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, sit down because you don’t want to pee all over the place because you’re tired and can’t see, and have a spider drop down on your bare back from the exhaust fan?
Then you have to fix the drywall and reattach the towel rack?
Good times. 😖

I hate spiders.

They are fast AF too.
Yep.

Wolfies dont spin webs. They're one of the few spider species that use speed to catch prey. It's cool to watch one rush a cricket or other insect and make it a meal.

I installed Google pic search on my phone. Just use the app to snap a pic of whatever you're looking at and up pops the result. Pics that you posted are too small to really make out what it is. I found this guy out back by my burn pile.

Seriously? Is that one of those new invasive giant venomous flying spiders? I'd be going scorched earth all over my yard right about now...!

Once the demolition charges stopped going off in our garage, our neighbors started to settle down . . . . . . .

Nah, it’s a common yellow spider aka zipper spider due to the zipper pattern in their webs. It was far from the house, so I decided to let it live.

I stomp those little scorpion babies when I see them in my boat storage. They barely look like scorps. Haven’t seen the mama yet…

I have one living on the property away from the house so I left it alone. It looks like the same type. Real big right?

When I see large garden spider webs like that one, I find a big grasshopper and toss it into the web. It's on!

rrrr, thanks. I had no idea. I’ve learned scorpions have 12. And there‘s a box jelly fish that has 24. That’s a great straight on photo of that wolf spider.

If I saw that thing I’m making a bee line to the garage to get my sous vide gun and sear its ass.

The honcho at Parker Pest suggested I gently pick up the next one I find and take it outside . . . . . Probably not. But, maybe ? Lol

With a face like that . . . It can move wherever it wants! Lol

Rumor is, there are some WS living next door. Those neighbors may have kittens missing

Did you see a web? Anything like a black widow web? Just a messy web in the corner. Could be a brown widow. Found a couple in my garage in havasu and pest control guy was surprised saying we don’t have them here. But I was bit by one in CA, so I recognized it.

The browns are more aggressive than the blacks. They take over black territory.

And no that wasn’t a gang reference.
