75 up any dune in a utv with regular tires and no speed key in that heat is not to shabby.

It will be interesting to see how it does in the customers hands in the dunes.

However I do find it sorta weird that in a recent video he made mention that his cars really weren't built for the dunes, had to scratch my head on that comment. Last time I checked it seemed that a rather large swath of his customer base are active duners and plan on using it for dunning. But hey, who am I to even question his logic on that.

We shall see.
That car was on the E85 tune with paddles FYI.

We shall see.

They dialed in the suspension for the hardpack and racing, not for dunning.

Plus, No rubber band car does well in the dunes. The belts don't last for chit and the power to weight ratio just plane ol sucks. The Speed car would be no different, looks like a heavy azz beast to me?

Although...

I keep seeing people say the ProR doesn't have an issue with belts in the dunes? Not sure what that's all about? 🤷‍♂️

I know guys that have gone YEARS without changing a belt on the hardpack. One would hope the Speed car should be the same.

The sand isn’t the issue with the belts. Yes it’s harder on them but that goes for most any car. The problem more times than not is between the drivers seat and steering wheel 😉

I’ve got thousands of miles racing and trips to Glamis on a rubber band car and have only ever blown one belt and it was my fault over driving the car.

UTV’s in Glamis is largely weekend warriors that aren’t familiar to the feel of an overdriven belt situation and don’t have the seat time to manage the car.

It’s really not an issue if you don’t have Ricky Bobby racing to Old’s lol

He had paddles and that was with the Speed key. Absent seeing the actual GPS I take his claim with a grain of salt. He has some fuzzy numbers sometimes. Car scooted up the hill.

The conditions this time of year are prime as you are not fighting those huge whoops to get up the hill.

Some interesting posts.

We still shall see.

Some of the speed cars, out of the total 34 will end up in glamis at some point. We shall see.

And I don't own a pro r gayzer, but we have several in our group, and they do very well in the dunes. At least when they are right side up on all four wheels. lol

No blown belts on any of the pro r's.

300hp and 45k seems to be the new normal. This Glamis season will have lots of nice rigs with all the new SXS hitting the market.

Olds and Steep are two words that don't exactly go together. Where is the vid of one hauling azz up Choke Cherry?

You don't get out much do you Carl.

See ya on the water! 😁

P.S. Did you find the warranty coverage documents yet? 🤷‍♂️
bench race much? :)

Nope.

Been to Glamis as much as I have the river. Not to mention St Anthony's, Spinreel, Coos Bay, Winchester Bay, Dumont, ect.

Been in Sand Cars, SxS's and quads in the dunes.

I have maybe a couple/three hours of seat time in the sand. 😉. It's what happens when you're old as dirt! 😁

For that kinna money, plus everything you'd have to put into it, a person could be a NICE used sandrail.

A SxS in the dunes makes Zero sense to me. 🤷‍♂️

Difference is people can finance a SXS and depending on what they break can take it to a dealer for warranty work. Buying a used rail in the 45K price point is out of the cards for most. Not to mention the unknown of what maintenance was done and if the transmission or motor will need rebuilds.

Rails are a blast in the dunes.

I honestly always thought that the main attraction was that (unlike a sand car) you can drive em right into a toy hauler.

Then, when they started getting the suspension dialed in, that's when they Really got popular.

Of course you are 💯 percent correct though.

I'm still waiting to see the warranty docs on the Speed...

Difference is rails are good in the sand or in the sand. If you spend 100% of your time in the dunes they’re great.

Yeah no. Fried of mine had a Desert Dynamic's chassis. We ran that car everywhere.

Saw a nice one out in Death Valley too. Dude was giving our group the evil eye.

I could read his mind from his face...

Stupid SxS owners! 🤣

Rails are a lot of fun in the sand. Turning brakes make it better, if the owner uses them. Buddy has a Funco and it is an absolute blast chasing him around the dunes. Most rail owners would never take them in the dirt.

The big thing is that *most* of the market can't finance or pay to maintain a nice used sandrail, and most people's toy haulers and trailers can't fit a sandrail. A sand car is 90+" wide, and that's not including paddles. Alot of the rails out there are Pre-2009 units before the big recession. They're either tired and clapped out, or they are upgraded and well kept and command big $$$ CASH if they are one of the good mfg's.

The SXS appeal is that they are brand new, warranty, dealer support, cheaper to fix (belts are a dime a dozen compared to a Mendola rebuild...) and they fit in your trailer. At least, they used to fit in your trailer. They keep getting bigger and bigger!

I had a XP4, and currently have a rail. There's things I liked better about each of them. Way better stability in an 8' wide rail, that's for sure! But it also limits desert trails I can run, and climbing in and out VS just stepping out thru a door is a PITA. At the end of the day - I just wanna get to where were going and back, put smiles on the kids faces, and have a good time. They both do that, so i'm good!

Rails aren’t fun trail riding and getting into the technical stuff. Open desert they’re pretty close to each other and dunes the rail has the advantage. Every where else a SXS is so much more enjoyable.

Maintenance, if done properly, is way more economic and easier with a SXS as well as the dealer network.

It’s all about what type of riding you spend the majority of your time in.

I love both platforms but enjoy the technical type riding these days and a rail wouldn’t be comfortable for that.

👍🏼

It's tough to beat 4wd independent suspension on the hard pack.

SXS opens up way more areas to go explore. I have seen lots of cool stuff over the years exploring in my SXS. I would never have gone to Baja if I did not have a SXS.
Yep Sand only cars are only good for the sand although you can take them out in the hard pack most people will not. In order to do the exploring type stuff really need to have four-wheel-drive and probably a winch wouldn’t be a bad idea. Main reasons I’m changing over I don’t care about going fast in the sand anymore. I’ve done it been there. Diablo will get me around in the sand. Good enough I don’t care if I’m first to the Swingset. Also the large beds the speed cars have will make easier and less expensive to carry gear or even just run to Home Depot. If you’re in a place, you could drive it on the streets. No need for racks and putting all your weight up high.

Don't you think he should offer a free entry for anyone that has a Speed UTV and wants to race? It is close to $3,000 to enter with a co-driver. Plus additional fees for crew.

You should race yours and if you finish with no issues it will be worth more. LOL!!

I sure hope those 75 Speed cars that have spots available are on the boat from Vietnam now.

Well, it sounds cool, but of course you have to have your car, huh? What I have now will not qualify in that class at least.

To be honest, I sincerely hope this is fake news...

It's an aftermarket warranty. It's not being serviced by Speed.

It's like if you bought a new Chebby, and they offered you NOT a GM warranty, but a warranty provided by Joe&Wheeler.com

When you see that "all internally lubricated parts" phrase, it means they don't intend to warrant anything that breaks, only the things that don't break.

I'm honestly hoping this is a joke. If it's not, it means Speed will NOT be providing warranty coverage for their product.

Let's prey Carl is fucking with the room. 🙏

RPM is one of several warranty options for UTVs (powersports). Depending on which dealer you purchase from they will push one over the other.

Good to know it's a reputable company. 👍🏼

I noticed all the wordage for jet skis, motorcycles, etc.

Standard extended warranty agreement. It's definitely not covering the Whole car.

I looked at it again and the warranty company is Revolos. I saw the RPM and mistakenly assumed it was RPMone.

The website for Revolos says they have been around for 60 years.

I wonder does he include that with the car? Or you have to purchase it separately?
