Something I Noticed in The Valley of Fire State Park. What's Wrong With This Sign?

Anyone else see what's wrong here; besides the story of this poor bastard? There are actually two things wrong. One I think a lot of people will get, but only the hard core historians on here might be able to do some research and figure out the other issue. I actually happened to figure out the other problem with the sign when I dug further in to this person just for fun. The first issue I noticed as I was reading the sign.

Nope, that is actually correct. He emigrated here. Emigrate means to leave one's country to live in another. Immigrate is to come into another country to live permanently. Migrate is to move, like birds in the winter. The choice between emigrate, immigrate, and migrate depends on the sentence's point of view.

It doesn't say he died during his emigration to California, only that he moved there. Then on a trip to SLC, he died.

Well the actual grave says John G. The sign that has another error that nobody has got yet says John J. So that part of the equation I am not really sure about. However, nobody has caught the most blatant problem with the sign!

What is so funny, is a few of you guys mentioned Cavalry in your replies and actually referred to the correct spelling but were not directing that as the issue.

Well, maybe my "now" is beyond hope; that would make sense. I feel our "now" in 2020 is beyond hope.

Would seem folks just have a real problem of getting much right while attempting to memorialize this poor guy. First the Name, being different on his memorial pacard versus the information board. Then his birth date is different on each, then the guy writing this article claims he died at age 67, when the placard date would have him at 72 and the information board at 71.
