Oh and if it hasn’t had the Rube Goldberg transfer case mess changed, look into getting a Novak cable set up. Best thing I ever did to both 05 LJ’s.
Yes, 5 speed with a 4.0.I might be!!! My 16yr old just got his license and wants an MJ really bad for his first vehicle. 5 speed/4.0?
Dana 44 rear axle with track lock. Dana super 30 high pinion front axle with ARB air locker. Forged superior axles.which lockers are in it?
and assuming D35 rear axle???

When I bought it, it had the Dana 35 rear and the Dana 30 split front axle with vacuum. That was the first thing to come out.oh nice
I had one of those factory D44's I swapped into my XJ before the 1tons. Sweet setup, sounds like you got some great parts under that.

Toyota guy here, Three 4runners and and 80 series, Jeeps feel like kit cars made by high school kids. But you pay the Tax on either. They command moneyI see you are unfamiliar with the finer things in life - Toyota Landcruisers.
edit; I'm joking, I've seen pictures of your boat (boats?), I know you have good taste. A landcruiser is like a Schiada
CongratsOk, so, I’m back in the jeep club. I remembered the two finger steering wheel wave and everything. This makes number 5. Clean lil jeep, picked it up for $10k View attachment 1452523
Good news is I got laid already this morning before I told her about it. It may be a while after I bring it home
I hear you about buzzkill………
My wife threw a fit when I proposed purchasing this below.….. ($23k) I still want it! lol

Listen to your wife. You need to spend some time outside of Florida….🫣I hear you about buzzkill………

Two ways to look at it. I wouldn’t buy anything with an automatic. Of course I drive an 18 speed as my daily. If you’ve ever owned a jeep, and live in the mountains you’d understand. The auto is a total slug going up the hill. Try finding a stick shift dodge. Impossible to find, and when you see one, they’re gone in minutes. And a 6 speed manual is often a tough sell, deduct 2G often
Williams, Arizona.I'm interested. Where is it located?
You forgot to mention that a manual transmission is also an ANTI- THEFT device. You can leave the keys in the ignition. lolRock crawling is a different deal all together. Same with desert racing. For all practical purpose, you cant beat a standard shift in a shit box. The reason everyone over fifty can drive stick is this; when we were 16 years old, the cheapest starter car available was a Honda/nissan/toyota/ etc 4 cylinder stick shift shit box. Not only were they the cheapest, but also bulletproof. An automatic will come nowhere near the standard shift in a shitbox (I classify this 20 year old TJ) in durability, overall performance from a speed&power ( Jeromy Clarkson’s voice) and maintenance standpoint. The automatic was always an upgrade way back in the day. Now, no one can drive them. It’s a lost art, like writing in cursive. I’d bet if you took a poll here on the RDP, if based on age, you’ll see a 20% decrease in ability to drive one, in decades of years old of driver. So, 50 and up, id say 80%can. 40 and up, 60% can, 30 and up, 40% can, 20 and up 20% can, and children learning now, almost zero can. No one owns them. No one has them available for they’re kids to learn on.
10k is a great buy. Stock Rubicons will tackle 95% of what most people who think they want to offroad will drive over.Ok, so, I’m back in the jeep club. I remembered the two finger steering wheel wave and everything. This makes number 5. Clean lil jeep, picked it up for $10k View attachment 1452523
I hear you…….. I am heading to Australia in 3 weeks.Listen to your wife. You need to spend some time outside of Florida….🫣
If you didn't have a 4:1 t-case...your tune would change on the rocks. Stock non-rubi 2.whatever:1 Tcase is miserable with 3 pedals on the technical shit.....Teraflex doesn't make their deal anymore and the rubicrawler doesn't work on a 5spd.Rock crawling is a different deal all together. lol! Nah, I’m just gonna find another run out east, and wait till it blows over…so are you going to be putting a roof top tent on for a place to sleep for a few days?
I had I built tj with an atlas 4 speed, and 5 speed manual. I ran all over Johnson valley a million years ago when you could run sledge on 35’s. I had a thumb throttle on the stick, I never had any issues. I guess it’s just me. This was one of my TJ’s. That’s my oldest, he’s 24 years old nowIf you didn't have a 4:1 t-case...your tune would change on the rocks. That's why I liked toyotas....you could stack as many reduction boxes as you wanted or go to 4.7:1 gears in a single case....it was badass. With a 2.28:1 and a 4.7:1 behind it, the brakes couldn't overcome the torque at idle....would go up whatever it had traction to go up and you could walk next to it and steer through the window if it got sketchy lol.
Ahh...an Atlas, not stock reduction ratio....you'd have cooked 4 clutches getting there with the stock T-case lol. I love manual stuff, but gotta get more gear in it or its sorta lame.I had I built tj with an atlas 4 speed, and 5 speed manual. lol! My first jeep was a 1975 CJ5, it was a handful to drive for sure. Injected small block and 465/205 as well. It would do wheelies!Nice "hoopty"
I'll keep being poor over here.

If any of you guys want to make your TJs actually stop.....hit me up, I've got a few kits available (new knuckles, bigger rotors, 2 piston calipers...etc).
4runner?If you’ve owned jeeps, you’d understand. Show me any vehicle that has a/c, seats four, has four low, and lockers, put a boat in the water, do 70 on the freeway, and will only go up in value, for under $15k. Now, all things being equal, and it is mechanically sound. I was looking at getting one of those sic ass four door hard top side by sides. Those bastards are $45k and up! And only going down in value, and has nowhere near the duty cycle or capability of a tj. Of course biased. Ive owned two TJs, and two CJs. Oh. Maybe that’s it. I’ve owned too many jeeps.
I’ll admit, similar Year four runner is dope. However, not The same, in my opinion. They’ve got arm front end, and unibody construction, but you can get a stick shift. Can’t beat Dana 44’s, with 4:11’s and a transfer case with 4:0 low range, and a stick shift for 10 grand.4runner?
Maybe, with Japanese build quality and dependability.
In all fairness I’m not actually positive on that. I thought so, but could be wrong.4-runners are uni-body? I thought they were body on frame, like the Tacoma's.

With 1st gear and 5:29s, It was around 240:1 IIRC....it's been a while.168:1?
Have you tried a different prop?
Dan'l
Pretty sure that'll work....might have to use different ball joints, I'll check. What size wheels are you running? How about an 87 YJ?
