These opposite hand brackets are some kind of bump stop for a big off-road jeep. I believe these bump stops are designed to use a rubber bumper to stop the suspension from going too far. The problem is the Jeep guys are bending these things and breaking parts so the answer is to convert to a hydraulic bump stop. Something a little softer and gives more.
So I came up with two tall knees to hold this awkward shaped part. Then I got on the lathe and made a quick little aluminum spud to locate on the slotted pattern on top of the bracket to give me my center. I just use my spring-loaded center to put pressure on the spud and jog the machine and X and Y and got a quick little center. Nothing super accurate.
Then I generated a 2 1/2 inch circle so that the hydraulic adapter sleeve would fit in which will be welded eventually.
Finally I cut 1 inch off of the adapter sleeve so that these guys can use quarter inch shims that will take up that space and they can adjust their bumps the way they want.
Kudos to the guy that bent these brackets. I thought for sure that after I set up the knees, that there was no way that each bracket would fit between those knees perfectly. I was wrong.
