Clean. @LowRiver2 pass smog?
No it has not
I originally posted it had passed, that was a miscommunication.

The seller has a price he thinks reflects the value minus what it takes to make it smog legal.

I’m not debating , just passing on the info.

It has a 60 day “clearance” to get passed for what I am told.

It’s going up for $20k nationwide this week.

Crazy what square bodies fetch now

There used to be a guy named Tom on the show Dream Car Garage, every week he drove a new car and reviewed it. He always said "Do I need a car like this"...No, but I want a car like this.

I have a 87 square that I bought new, it’s a bare bones Custom Deluxe. Motor and suspension is all I did. I wouldn’t sell for less than 25k. I would start that K5 off at 25k..let them talk you down!😎

These K5s are pulling highest prices of all time at moment. The mid 80s not as popular but undercarriage is super clean/ no leaks and looks to be a SoCal car so no salt or beating like they get in other rural locals like Pac NW. I understand you're simply a middleman... my question would be whats with the smog failure? I'm no buyer as I like the earlier years but a friend goes to auctions and flips cars and he tells me the smog failures, VIN tracking and state fines for illegal passings can be significant. You may wish to ask your friend whats caused the failure and post it up. These are very simplistic mechanically relative to modern vehicles with all their coding to trip up a smog test.

Looks like aftermarket fuel injection and headers to start. This would be an easy AZ reg car or a Montana LLC thing. This will cost allot to get it to pass smog in Cali.

Bingo
Seller bought it with the FI tech injection and headers. He was going to switch it over but decided to sell. He’s owned it a couple years.
$2k should cover what’s needed to get it back to a TBI and stock manifolds for a Ca. Registration , hence the price change .

I keep coming back to this thread. Please mark it sold so I don’t make another bad financial decision. Haha.
Same here, I had a 90’ K5 Jimmy stolen back in 94’. Love these trucks, timing just is not there for me to buy it.

This dually in Kansas is killing me too🤣

The K5 has a 60 day DMV approval to be sold the way it is , the buyer would have to get it set up for smog.
I know most Californians wouldn’t be interested in the work, pretty sure this truck wil go out of state.

At $18k , I ran classic auto trader for 81-90 K5’s , and it most definitely is on the lower level price wise for what it is.

What is going on with the front bumper. It doesnt look like it has a body lift but the front bumper looks dropped. maybe just a weird pic angle.

The truck had the ugliest front brush guard/ winch combo on it when the seller bought it.

I don’t know how that affected the bumper, possibly the stock front bumper mounts were modified ?
I posted the bumper /winch on here for sale a long time ago

Never was sold

We just did a new 350/350 and new 4L60 in my wifes '89 K5 with a 1t swap. She was offered $50k last week and turned it down(its her baby) but I did take his phone #..

The prices on these are crazy .

I remember I could find one in this condition in Parker back in 2000-2004 for $5k easily

Needs a bootleg smog guy so he can sell it locally lol. If it were smogged with the 90 day window I'd be all over it
