I am shaking as I type this.,

This morning I took our 8 year old to the dentist for a big crown on a baby tooth.
Tough little kid our Maynard,, he came out of it pretty rough'd up though.
My skull cap is off to him,,,, he did good.

Then it was on to my older sons bone marrow sample extraction.
Talk about drama and pain.

The kids proceedures seem to be regimented and organized to specific days.
So ya see other kids going through somewhat the same treatments and proceedures and tests,, on the same days.

We've been kinda syncronized with a little 14 year old girl Jessica that we have gotten to know.
Pretty and smart,, sweet as sugar and she is going through many of the same proceedures as my son.

Sad thing with her is,, at 14,, sit down before ya read this,, she has breast cancer.
Breast Cancer is a MF to fight,, and much slimmer odds that our son is going through.
And for christ sakes,, 14 years old.

My wife found out all the details about her and filled me in,, and of course ya can't help but get attached too the other kids around us going through the same journey.

She panic'd during the prelim proceedures to get her bone marrow sample,, ran outta the surgery center office,,, and we went out and coax'd her back in..

Jesus christ I hope none of you ever have to endure this shit., I wouldnt wish it on anyone,,,

Holy shit this sucks,,

Unbelievable... My dad died when I got out of high school from cancer. Mom had a stroke, sister had an aneurism... I've had my own fun.

Hang in there TPC. This is some tough stuff but it can be beat. I just had a very good friend beat testicular cancer at 39. He actually lost one of "the twins" and still has a good chance to have kids. I lost a few family members to cancer but all older folks. I hate to see kids suffer but they are strong and can win. Keep 'em strong. Keep 'em fighting.

I haven't *knock*on*wood, to endure cancer 1st hand, but over the years I've been through my fare share of pain, suffering, and hospitals.

Back when I was a younger (kindergarden through 5th-6th grade), I wished my pain & suffering on some of the other kids. But whether or not it has become their reality, I will never know.

As I got older I started to understand more about people in general, situations beyond our control, and life, living, dying & death. Now days I don't wish any of the things I've gone through on anyone, no matter how upset they make me. But as a kid this logic wasn't an easy concept to grasp. Remember school was a lot different 15-20+ years ago than it is today.

If I offended anyone earlier I deeply apologize.

TPC, I can't imagine having do go through that every week or every other week. Seeing a scared child, with a grim outlook has got too be almost surreal. :( I'm very sorry that you, and more importantly your son have to go through this.

Did I read that right?

TPC I can understand what you are going through to a degree. I am sure it is exponentially worse to do it with one of your children but I did go through breast cancer with my mom and went with her on several occasions for her chemo treatment. The feelings that rush through you while sitting in these rooms is absolutly overwhealming. I would not wish any of that on my worse enemy.

The only advice I can give, and I am more than certain you already know this, is to stay strong for your son. A strong will to fight and a great support system around him is the MOST important thing for him. It sounds to me that you have this more than covered. I wish you luck and I will keep your family in my prayers.
