SO I WANTED TO BUY A BOAT, WTF WAS I THINKING????

So here was my quest,,,I wanted to buy a boat.... and on the want list was a nice clean well kept garaged boat, that didn't need to be worked on to run..I narrowed my search down to two boat models first being a 21' schiada rc, and next a 210 Hallett.... the problem with the Schiada for me was..the V-drive...although the V-drive 21' rc Schiada is by far the best known to me boat on the planet...the v drive is not the most dock and trailer friendly boat...I have never heard good things about the out drive 21' schiada, besides RD's....when it gets big at mead... you need to be able to get the bow up, and to do that at slow speeds , you need the out drive... or sit and wait it out till the lake settles down..so there is was... drive'n all over the country.. looking at pristine junk....

sounds like you need another killer 240 but probably just as tough to score as another 210

after looking till my eyes started to bleed,...and narrow escaping getting my ass whomp'd and having to refrain telling owners their boat was POS...I found this Hallett 210,...the boat was as closed to just what I want'd.. nice power.. the merc 500 hp,..what I like about these motors is the fact that they are the easiest to get another 100 hp out of at a reasonable cost, and for a 210 Hallett... plenty of power.. they boat was rigged with what I thought to be very nice.. 18" dual ram tabs, dual ram external full hydralic steering, sea strainer, merc 500 hp,... what else could a guy want??? so after watching this boat for sell, and watching the price come down..I see that the add changed...now it is for sell by owner, and I was able to call him direct, and not have to talk to an up selling sells man..So I call the guy...………...

I called this guy so many times that I knew his number by heart..each time I would go over and over about the condition of the boat, and one of the questions was.." you have had this boat for sell for awhile, why hasn't it sold... and what have the people that looked at it said, or what was the reason for it not selling... he says, nobody has come to look at it and his phone rings off the hook, but no one comes to look, he goes on to say.. " This boat is show room perfect, needs nothing, there is not a mark on it any where, it runs and drives like the day it was bought, him and his buddy that got too old to boat are the only owners, boat was never drove over 35 mph, and always used on clear lake..the trailer looks like its brand new, not a scratch, and the tires are new..the trailer has only been on the freeway once or twice, and only goes a mile to the ramp..titles in hand, boat just major serviced, bring your money....so here I am in vegas… boat is 700 miles away....I know there are people that would wire the doe and send a transporter..... but that's not me..so now here I am.. cash in had.. wanna buy a boat.. can't sleep worrrying that some one is gonna buy the boat, it was a little high on the price for the market, but hey ,.. it's perfect,.. and I don't have to work on it..my wife says.. " go look at it, at least you won't have to drive 55 mph on the way home cause you won't be towing anything"..." buy'rs perfect is different than sellers perfect...lol

I walk around the trailer, scratches in the paint, 18 year old date code on the tires... I say, thought the trailer had new tires and no scratches... he goes right into mad...says... the numbers don't mean shit, and you go by the tread that's left...oh yeah?? you said the trailer was show room perfect,and it looks like new!he say's looks like it's time for you to leave, this is not the boat for you,..Hallett is about 4 hrs. down the road... go there and buy a boat... this ones not for sale to you...So I start walking back to the rv, get about half way there and think, I wanna see under the cover...so I say,. you know, I just spent all night driving here... where's the boat that's like new..your pissing me off, and I think you need to show me the boat, I did my part you do yours , or pay for my gas and time...he say's,... I'm not giving you a dime, and the boat is not gonna get any cheeper,.. but I will take the cover off...

so I look at the boat,dirty, water stains on the hard ware, big stains on the carpet, and wow... is this an ugly ass boat...what were they think'n...but... it is the nicest Hallett I seen for sale.. and lots of good stuff,.. I went in the rv, got a wet, and a dry micro fiber..(guy standing there shaking his head)...I whipe a little spot... damn... this boat is pretty shinny... so i'm thinking, that while it was at the place that was try'n to sell it ...it sat out side...
