Pros and cons what is everyone's thought? I am sure this thread has been done before just wondering how does the Gator step hold up over the years? Do the light colors get stained, how hot does it get in the summer heat?

Both products get hot. We used deck x but ya stains do show but simple soap and water cleans most up. I’d do both again its up to you and the look you want.

Carpet just gets funky after awhile. I’d go gator step or dek-x. Yea you will see footprints if people wear shoes so start having a policy of no shoes on in the boat.

That is going in my boat.
Have carpet today and it is dated. Have the quote, pending design concept.
When you get it done I’d like to see it if you don’t mind. I’m going to pull all of my sea dek up over the summer. It’s shrunk and peeled in too many places. I want something removable so I can pull it up when I’m the slip so it doesn’t have the reflective radiant heat issue anymore

Gotta be honest, I like carpet over the new foam flooring.. Easy to shampoo and doesn't get as hot.

Both SC Wake, and Dek X offer snap in options for the foam flooring.

If you call SC Wake and talk to Jade tell her "RiverDave" sent ya and they will give you the RDP special. :). 928.302.3007. Upon completion of the job you can bring the invoice to RDP and get a free shirt as well.

If all goes as planned and the wife approves, should be done later this summer.
I got a quote to redo the carpet and DecX snap with carpet sides was almost cheaper.

What are these people doing to their carpets that they get funky from?

A good snap in carpet will easily last 15-20 years.....

Carpet doesn't scratch like sea deck, or absorb stain like sea deck either.

If I had the money I would do snap in carpet. Then it’s easy to take out and pressure wash.

I’ll be honest, I’m not impressed with the foam. Though I feel the aesthetic aspect increased tremendously, the foam gets hot as the sun. Mine is peeling in some areas and I argue that it’s because of the geometry vs sun. Also, be prepared for the inside of your boat to be louder. There is do dampening effect like there is from carpet. Lastly, if you out a cooler down, expect the water to stain the foam. Yes you can remove it but that adds another layer of cleaning and I feel like the more you clean it, the more you are lessening the life of the product.

Just my .02
