This little bastard makes #6 in 2 weeks. I got him but not before he bit a cat. Has anyone used a snake repellent that actually works? We are up in the foothills towards Mariposa and they are bad this year. And no I'm not burning the house and property down LOL

4 in a week at our Park. Rat poison. They come for the rats and mice as our park has a infestation.

Agreed, get rid of the food source and the snakes will go elsewhere. Also get a few bull snakes. It's debatable weather it will keep Rattlers away, but they will be competing for the same food.

A friend of mine out in the sticks in Yucca Arizona put about a dozen King Snakes around his 40 acre property a few years ago. Rarely sees any rattlers now. But yeah if there is no food source they will go where there is one!

I’ve done this. I’m still waiting to find my first rattlesnake at home. I figured all the construction equipment has kept them away but I’ve found a few garter snakes.

Problem is we are in the heart of snake country. Lizards, birds, field mice, cattle feed for the mice to eat out on the property and so on. There is no garbage for the mice or feed around the house we just happen to be right in the middle of a snake gang bang habitat.

Kitty should be ok he's at the vet overnight and racking up the $$$$. I don't think he was screwing with the snake just wrong place(our driveway) wrong time. Hopefully he learns we have had a couple that didn't

I've gotten 3 rattlesnakes in the Yorba Linda area so far this year. One near the driveway, two up in the hills while hiking. All 3 lost their heads and I'm looking for more opportunities to keep that population down. I hate them with a passion. My new neighbor got bit while in his garage a few weeks ago. They had everything open because they were moving in and the snake tagged him in the foot after it crawled in there through the open doors. 2 nights in the hospital and a $114K medical bill.

I installed snake fence (1/4" hardware cloth) around our entire property. Did some research into snake repellent. None of it seems to actually work. Mothballs have been suggested. I have no idea if those work either.

Seems like King Snakes are the best solution. They are immune to Rattlesnake venom and actively engage Rattlesnakes so they can eat them. I may buy a few and let them loose.

Killing the Rattlesnakes and letting the other non venemous snakes (Gopher Snakes, King Snakes, Garter Snakes) live is a good strategy. Snakes are somewhat territorial and keeping the good ones around to keep the food availability low will deter additional Rattlesnakes from showing up.

Gonna look into where to buy some king snakes. I know there are a few around but obviously not enough. Told the wife a couple mongooses and badgers would do the trick. Yeah we are still gonna get bit but at least not from a venomous devil serpant
