I’m trying to figure out what cameras I’m going to put on my sign truck. I don’t care if they are 12 volt / 110.. I just want them to be able to record on a local device and viewable via WiFi.

Most home security stuff is pretty large and I’m not sure would stay in position while the truck is driving around / wind / bumps etc.. most 12 volt stuff is like dash cams and not really for an outside permanent installation..

Any ideas? I was thinking two on the driver side / 2 on the passenger side / one front / one rear.. if they are a smaller “eye” I could put them right in the frame surrounding the screen.. if the are bigger than 1inch to 1 1/2 inches I’d probably have to mount externally.

This frame will be mounted on the bed of a flat bed f550 and its getting pretty close to being done so I’m running out of time..

Ideas?

What about the “ring” jobsite kit? Not sure if that would fit your needs but worth a look?

The spotlight cams Might work.. I’ll call them tomorrow and check it out.

I was really hoping for some dots that could just go in the main rails to not detract from the looks of the truck..

Are these battery powered or can I hard wire them? That’s still larger than I was hoping for..
I have those on my house. Battery powered, or you can connect to a mini solar panel

Hey Dave, you are not going to find an off-the-shelf solution to what you’re looking to do. You’ll either have to do some analog back up cameras wired into an analog DVR, or you’ll be taking apart some network cameras and trying to come up with a custom mounting solution, and an NVR that’ll support them

edit-if this was mine, and I was set on your requirements, I would do back up cameras and an analog DVR.

Somewhere on here there was a recent post about the small cameras on sides of motor homes that come on when you turn on the turn signals. Not sure how to wire those to a recorder but they are small enough for sure.

I just seen a commercial yesterday for fingertip size dot cameras. I'm sure it will be on again tonight.

Dave look at the new full perimeter rv systems and heavy truck collision avoidance stuff . There is a ton of unique camera mounts we are seeing and some we are not even seeing until we spend time looking for them ! Higher end coaches , busses and stuff. The right parts should get you active off site capability as well.

That’s a really good idea. You may find something for fleet tracking that has 360 camera views with live viewing 👍

Wyze cameras are cheap and have a lot of different models available. They are WiFi and USB powered and can record to the cloud or an on-board memory card (or both I believe). Really quality picture too I think for a wifi security camera.
