They have a landing gear that retracts too. How cool is that.

I can't see the video, probably something with my "system".

I wish there would have been a "sport pilot" rating 30 years ago...

If it was a 4 seater I’d think about ditching the boat. 😁.
Haha. My Builder buddy was talking about buying another plane today to commute to Havasu for a development he is ready to start. I mentioned the cost of planes. As the buddy with the Petrel just got a new one for commuting. I thought 500k he just laughed. Said that gets you a single engine not a turbo prop.

I need more capital or I will never catch up to either of them Lol. Good thing I don't like flying but if it was my own plane probably be different.

The amphibious are cool but the insurance rates have skyrocketed on them in the last 2 years

If you stick to liability and self insure hull it is more affordable.

I’ve never bought hull insurance in any aircraft I have owned. If I wad it up I’ll probably be dead so I will not need a new one. 🤷

I guess I'll go be poor somewhere else. But I would like to live in the strata where I cold walk away from a $200k loss and be like... Meh... 🤣

That comment reminds me of a tertiary friend I had about 20 years ago. He was a cash only buyer of toys and picked up a really clean old Commanche not long after he earned his Private Pilot license. Insurance cost was an issue, so he planned on flying the airplane "naked" for a couple hundred hours till insurance rates were more realistic. Well, on about his third flight the gear would not extend. It was funny listening to him talk afterwards about the calculations going on in his head when the thought of doing a gear up landing on his own wallet was a real possibility. For the record he was able to get the gear extended and locked, and called a broker the next day.
