I just received an email from my marina. And then my boat broker sent me these pictures.

I was just down here last night fishing with my Sunbird. I believe my Formula is ok, I'm gonna have to go see here in a bit. However, multiple brand new docks are destroyed. Power, sewage and plumbing have all been knocked out. The main gangway down to the marina has been ripped apart and sunk. No injuries are believed as the storm blew through in the middle of the night. Still waiting to hear of an all around assessment of other marinas and private docks on the lake.

Which marina is this - it’s been years since I’ve been on that lake but it looks like it’s near the old Carlos and Charlie’s???

I used to keep a boat in Hurst Harbor and then another boat in the Lakeway marina at the Dolce hotel - it doesn’t look like either of those to me?

That sucks. Going to take a few days to even get everything back into position

Wow.

New to Austin, just yesterday I toured the West Beach Marina.

This looks close by?

Lake Travis [Lodges] Marina.
No other major damage at any large marinas has been reported. They are currently rebuilding the marina. I suspect that the building company did not have the marina anchored well enough in its temporary configuration and it broke its mooring.

[Edit] some minor damage reported at Emerald Point on their most outer dock, lots of marina movement as well.

I hope your stuff's good, glad it happened over night though. Less people at risk.

With there being construction going on, it's going to be a legal clusterF'k. Insurance companies and lawyers may drag stuff out, but people's boats may be long gone before any payments made. This may suck more after the fact.

In your immediate future, I see lots of repair work headed your way. Kind of a plus, but for bad reasons.

I just sold our cruiser on L dock about 6 months ago. The marina has been under construction (had to be replaced due to open foam vs encapsulated. Docks are constantly being moved around right now. I'm betting that the temp moorings pulled. LTM is on a section of the lake that can get VERY windy, very fast. we were close to the end of the dock with our old cruiser..it would get some mean swells between the seawall and that end.

We still get the updates on email...unreal.

Didnt a freak snow collapse a bunch of stuff a few years back, cant recall if that was Travis.

Between the super low water levels then the flood at LBJ you guys have been taking a beating. Sure is a nice like when its full

I just drove down to see everything for myself.. L dock is mangled and destroyed. It got crushed between both halves of the marina.

The entire marina is out of position nearly 100yards and folded up like an accordion. Here are some more pictures

You think the Northshore marina is ok. My cousin keeps his Formula there?

I was spying on it from across the lake. It appears to be in tact

We had a thundstrom here in houston yesterday. Was the worst rain and lighting I have ever seen here in 4 years. Lasted about 20 minutes and came out of no where.

Storm damage sucks, water got mad and left, I thought those exposed cooler foam floats were outlawed 50 years ago, because they gradually shed the chunks of foam 🤔

But this is something you don't see every day  Holy hell, even a raised planter across the deck. 😂

Maybe it was a microburst? A few years ago we were hanging down by the LOVE sign is and bad weather blew in. It was a shitty run back. The roof of some piers got blown off down by the trailer park and one roof of a house. Our place had a few showers and that's it and its maybe 1.5 miles away. Either way hope all gets fixed.

I've had a few beers with Chris, and Don, and Gene, and Lisa. All after 5 of course ;)

Which cruiser was yours Ace?
