I never put stickers on my racing box, but these two were special. I was the chief mechanic on the lowest of the low buck entries at Indy that year.

Our driver crashed the car on Friday, the day before the last weekend of qualifying, and was injured. The car was hammered. We stayed up all night putting it back together. The car owner hired ex Formula One and CART driver Roberto Moreno to drive, and we went out on Saturday and qualified with a very weak 216 MPH average. The pole was 229 something. We worked on it all day, it was still a pig.

Sunday came around, last day. We kept going out during practice periods to find more speed, and were about to be bumped out of the race. Sometime around 4:45, Roberto clicked off four laps above 220. Qualifying ended at 6:00.

We withdrew our earlier time, got in the qualifying line, and Roberto put it in the show with 220.216 four lap average. We were on the inside of the last row, but I didn't care. Qualifying for the 500 is damn difficult, especially with a three year old car. Our crew chief won the Clint Brawner Award, given to the person that best illustrates the traits of a master mechanic during the Month of May.

That was the good part.

The bad part was Moreno crashed and we finished last. I pulled the stickers off the car and put them on my box.😁

The next year I had my first knee replacement, and that was the end of racing for rrrr. But it's a great memory.

I have My Dad's 1960's Waterloo 10 drawer top box.
The only sticker is an oval "Ban low Performance drivers not high Performance cars".
I have read that sticker since I was about five. It took me until I was about 8 or 9 to understand.
That time has passed and we now have Super cars that make anything with a 60's Big Block look silly thanks to the people who dared to dream.

Thats bad ass!
Mine don't have any cool stories, just a collection that slowly grows. The snapon box is older than me, but all the stickers are mine.

Not on my tool box but I'll play. Bought this new for the wife 8 or 9 years ago but it kept freezing everything even on the warmest setting. She said she wanted to send it back, I said bullshit I got a better idea 🍻 she got a new fridge and I've had icicles in my beer ever since🥶🍺👍

This is my old travel/race box I used for snowmobile racing, and tractor pulling. This box has literally traveled all over the country and still goes with me today every time I travel on a personal trip to haul something or go boating/riding.

Kind of an odd mix of stickers. I wish the yellow sticker was still intact, it said “Horsepower is a beautiful thing” from Factory PIpe.
