One of the worst things I’ve ever been through, went through it when i was 39 and still can’t get the vaccine for it. I suggest it to anyone who is of age, I’ve been through over 40 surgeries with my disease and still feel that Shingles was the worst pain I’ve ever had.

Thanks for all the input and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Saw my Dr yesterday and he said the Valtrex did its job with the rash but I have postherpetic neuralgia, which is the internal nerve inflammation post rash.

Not all people who get Shingles get this postherpetic neuralgia which can last for months after. He put me on a strong dose of Gabapentin and said that will releive most all of the pain until the inflammation subsides. This can be a few weeks to a few months. Hoping this Gabapentin works and gives me some relief the pain is unbearable at times. Takes a few days to fully kick in so hoping for the best.

Wife's 92 year old grandfather is recovering from shingles right now. It put him in the hospital.
He had it in his mouth, throat, sinuses, face and ear. Said it was the worst pain he's ever felt. This old dude is a tough SOB too.
Told my wife he was ready to jump in the ocean and just drown himself.

No idea if it helps if you leave shingles unattended for several days but after a couple days when I realized what was going on it was a 12 hour instant turn around and total relief in 24 hours my shingles had grown in to a rash twice as big as my hand on my lower thigh and was one huge raised rash not multiple bumps and unbelievable burning pain

After major colin surgery during the recovery stage when everything was eff'ed up l got shingles on the right side of my back, shoulder, arm and down into my leg. Started out mild with rash and pain, but grew intensely worse in 2 months with the pain and redness seemingly following the path of nerves. For me it only lasted for 6-9 months, the pain was horrible but luckily it was nothing compared to what the pain the colectome taught me.

Wife had it on her face early October. Thought it was a sinus infection until the rash broke out. I seen how much pain she was in so I went and got the vax for it immediately. I didn’t have any side effects of getting the first vax. The Dr prescribed her Acyclovir for the shingles and Norco for the pain. The Norco didn’t work so the Dr prescribed Gabapentin. She still complains once in a while of the pain as she describes as someone sticking a needle into her scull.

I had it twice, just under my eye. Both times they caught it early but the doctor was worried that it might spread to my eye so they had me see my ophthalmologist. They gave me Valacyclovir and all was good.

I’m 58 and got the 2 shots last year because I’ve heard the stories. Super sore shoulder at injection site and kinda felt like shit for a week. Glad I got it. Only Vax I’ll take
I’m 62 and my wife said I should get the vaccine but I don’t trust the doctors that get the shot I’m afraid I will have something else in it

Not wanting to change this to an anti vax thread but should ask a poll of everybody who took this vax did it help verse catching shingles after vax. Why a say this my dad took vax for shingles then came down with really bad case a week later, before I knew to use ivomec on shingles, over a hand full of others vaxed against shingles have had same results with two being admitted to hospital, thus I refused vax and had mild case treated with ivomec and no side effects. Like I said not trying to go off crazy direction but what are people seeing with their own eyes?

Got it last year for the first time maybe 6 to 8 months ago @ 59. Pretty bad/miserable left side of the head. No vax, no pharmaceutical drugs. Put tea tree oil on it three times a day it cured it in just under three weeks. Ghost pain for a month after. L-Lysine along with vitamin C Cal mag zinc and D3 will help with your body fighting it as well. Once you get it normally that will be your bodys stress point and it will come again sometime. Kind of like a fever blister. No matter what it sucks.

I really think the Shingles Vaccine is fine. Been around a long time. I’ve never heard any issue’s with it. After hearing horror stories for years from people who got Shingles I figured WTF.
Funny thing is…I won’t get the flu one but then again I’ve never had the flu. I would probably start getting it. 😂
