Selling a car - paint it or sell as is

I'm going to be cycling out my Tahoe in the next few months and debating getting the hood and roof painted prior to selling it or just leaving it as is. It's a black Tahoe so the roof and hood are faded which looks like shit. Is it worth spending the +/-1500 to get them painted for higher resell value or just say F it and leave it? It's a 2013 with 110K miles on it.

Detail should be a given no matter the car
Painting the roof and hood might not get you all your money but it will increase people interested and help with keeping price up

Talk to a detailer, they may be able to help get the roof and hood in decent shape with a good clay and buff.

Sell it as is. Knowing buyers, they will see fresh paint which won’t match the other black paint which is faded and then think that you got in some kind of car accident then be all freaked out when nothing shows on the Carfax and down the rabbit hole you go.

If it is just the clear sometimes you can wet sand it with 2500 then 3000, then polish and wax it. Worked wonders on my son's beat up Lexus.

You won’t get your money back. Someone buying a 10 year old suv is probably just looking to get a cheap car to tote around their 37 ninos and it’ll be tore up in a week after you spent 2 weeks polishing everything.

Just sell it as is and walk away. As a buyer I’d rather see the normal grime especially engine bay than something someone finally cleaned after 100k miles of neglect. Tells me you’re not trying to hide anything.

If you’ve ever sold anything on marketplace you’re gonna be dealing with 300 people asking what’s the lowest you’ll take and then showing up $500 short. That’s after the 3 million people asking if it’s still available and then never responding.

Try wiping it with original pledge before showing it. Do a sample spot first, see if you want to proceed.
It will make it temporarily shiny.
It will also leave a mildly oily residue.
Drive through car wash and repeat as needed.
I mean, if your looking for a cheap short cut.

Dont waste your time/$$$ getting it painted…

Plenty of buyers who will are looking for cars “under market value” with problems like this. In their mind, they are getting a $1500 discount on a reliable car that fits their needs. They can paint it when the Tax Return comes in, but they end up spending that money on new rims/tires… and stereo… LOL…

Like others have said, lots of dipshits on FB Mkplc and CL… be prepared for those fucks. Lots of time wasters, but you can find a buyer if you have patience.

I am speaking from experience… look up the Lexus GX460 that I sold, it was advertised here and FB… Paint on the hood and top was flaking off.
