Mine I brought for the kid chasing Loretta Lynn's last year was awesome. Had service everywhere, and if friends were parked 100' away they usually could connect to it. Did work meetings, TV, phone browsing with it - Could stream on 10 different devices without lag if we wanted to

Just installed my Dads last night, was up in 10 minutes, longest part was putting in the credit card info!

He did get hit with a one time $100 "Congestion Charge" I guess this is because he is in middle of nowhere in Coolidge. Thats a little annoying but i told him, What ya gonna do, not get it?

Get it. I use it while out in the middle of the forest and able to work remotely while camping. People give me shit about disconnecting from electronics but I camp for a week at a time and not use any vacation or planned time off. Even works in the truck while traveling.

Here's one free month of Starlink service! Starlink high-speed internet is great for streaming, video calls, and gaming in even the most remote locations on Earth. https://www.starlink.com/residential?referral=RC-2468488-19791-82&app_source=share

They are certainly effected by obstructions. Need a fairly clear view to the north. Appx 100* window. The more obstruction, the more interruptions. Up to about 8-10% you'll have good browsing but poor gaming, poor 2 way video(zoom). But still better than most other remote/rural options.

My question is if you want a portable one so you have the option of using at home burn if you want to take it somewhere, how does that work or is there really not a feasible option?

You need 2 seperate units- If you take the unit from home when you travel then you loose WiFi to security cameras and what ever other devices use WiFi at home. If you arent worried about any of this then its not a big deal and you can use one device.

Exact reason my dad doesn’t use starlink as his only internet service.

The roam can be used at home, but costs more monthly for unlimited data. If you have a residential system/service you can add the roam system/service for $50 a mo for 50gb, and turn it off for the months you don’t need it.

We figured worth the expense for 2 Starlinks to have it on the road and dedicated at home.

I have mine mounted on roof just next to eaves, reach up pull it down and toss in RV. I have my wifi cameras on my neighbor's wifi, it works great when I leave. Still not sure what I get for having cameras since nobody will use them if I have a problem.

Once in a while we get a 2 second hickup usually around 2:38 in the morning.
Damfino why but other than that, flawless.

Maybe Elon testing out that waterless toilet that saps your turds with Lazers.
Fail-safe needs to be perfected to not burn your nutsac off or singe your pubes.

Wife thinks it’s when the Powerwall flips the load to the grid if we’re running a lot of electrical draw like the AC.

We are now ATT free and that’s a BFD to me.

First time in a long time ATT was pleasant to deal with when I called to discontinue our services.
Only to try and get us to reconsider.

I'm not sure what you're saying. If there is 8-10% obstruction? or 8-10% of the time?

We monitor all of our clients and the ones on Starlink also have the same hiccups at that exact time. I assume its the firmware update or something of that sort.

Just got a ATT bill that has gone from $301 past bill to a $89 credit.
Direct Streaming still bills through ATT and it'll apply to that.
Only keeping Direct for Sportsnet LA and it's no longer owned by ATT and will eventually change billing.

I've been with ATT since 1972.
I remember you had to go to the ATT's Pacific Bell office and stand in line to get your phone installed and assigned a number.
Then set-up an appointment and an installer would come to your place and install your phone.
Any call beyond a 4 mile radius was a toll call.

Standing in line with Singers Dick and Dee Dee in there getting their phone service established too.

Then, to the power company, then to the gas company, then to the water company, then to the post office,,

The instructions say 3200 feet house. The RV is 100 feet away and the back bedroom is 100 feet away with a good signal.

It's all us bootlegging & fabricating with what we have on hand at this point.
A good cottage business now would be someone figuring out a few different mounts for a few different mounting situations.

So far most people mount it to something that was already there from what I read on the internet.

The Starlink pole mount just pinches the mount to the pole with 2 set screws. Definitely would not live long term with the wind. I drilled the pole so the bottom set screw would thread into the pole.
‘I’m not entirely sure the snap in mount from the antenna to the pole mount is great but there does not seem to be any other way other than to do a mount similar to the PCI mini which grabs the sides.

Thanks Ross. We are getting ready to start a big project in Lajitas TX (very sketchy cell service) and builders risk insurance wants cameras. We planned on having Starlink there for our internet needs but the camera deal just came up this morning.

Dunno about the mini,, but when the winds came up I had to re think the house Starlink to a more solid mounting.

Some Automotive testing You Tubers are simply suction-cup mounting their Minis the the interior side of the glass roof/Sunroof with amazing in route moving results.
