Need to get out of our 16' and upgrade a little for a 4 seat SxS plus a couple bikes. Also wanted the ability to haul my 67 Bronco to since I've been picking up more and more picture car work on the side. I started Looking for a Spread Axle 22', really like the ATC and Intech but can't justify spending $50k+ for something just to haul to the desert and occasional car show. Looked at Carson they quoted $27k + tax for the Racer deluxe spread axle, want cabinets/workbench, lighting and vinyl walls ceiling/ flooring but not much else to save weight. Seems like most all builders are located on the east coast or midwest.
Are there any west coast companies I'm missing?

Definitely pay attention to the differences between an "enclosed" trailer, and an enclosed car trailer. Anchor points and floor capacity, we'll as axle type and capacity. Offroad stuff, I like the ground clearance of axle/spring setups...but rolling in dead hotrods, I like the lower setups with torsions...but that can also bite you in the ass, because the wheelwells are taller, and a lowered car door may not open. Playing fat guy twister sucks.

If I was going to order 1. I would go 22'. 8' tall interior with 7' rear door height. 5200-6000 axles with brakes on both. Rated at 9,999 lbs. I would not bother paying extra for spread axle. Looks better but harder to back in. Smooth sides like a racer. Upgrade inside as needed.

I will do some searching used. I always watch the market for the right one. Prices have just gone way up. Friend has 1 really similar to this but white and not as long. Out of my budget and probably longer than i would want but very nice trailer.

You’re going to need an enclosed car trailer rather than an enclosed trailer if you want to haul a Bronco too.

As @bonesfab said, Intech’s are nice but, you’re gonna pay all the money for them. I have an enclosed FeatherLite for the UTV’s and it’s alright. No complaints and finished inside/out and loaded with cabinetry. It’s not going to be the star at the dance but has treated me well.

I have 2 friends that ordered enclosed trailers. One feather lite and one haulmark. Both are happy with them. I think both were built on the east coast. Looking at the 2 I would say the feather lite is better quality. They were pretty cheap if you compare it to ATC and Intech.

If he wants a work bench, haul a four seat UTV and a couple of dirt bikes he’ll want 24’. That’s what mine is and I use ever inch of space hauling a four seater and three 110 dirt bikes without playing tetras every trip.

If you want a simple box a lot of the custom local guys will do it and probably for around that same price. Ultra Santek, Ultra Hauler, Universal, Trailers unlimited, V Way.

I quoted out a wide body 24’ box with universal recently and it was under $20k for a basic box. For some upgrades, cabinets, flooring, lights, fuel station, etc. you would be closer to $24-27k

I actually had a custom trailer built. I ended up going a 8.5x24 with 7.5' ceiling.

It's took awhile for the builder but it came out bitchin, 1.5" square stock steel studs that are 24" on center, 1/4" interior luon walls over the standard 1/8", double insulation, one piece aluminum roof, heavy duty .40 aluminum exterior walls, drop dinette, drop sofa/bed, drop queen bed, full bathroom with shower, 2 burner stove, rubber coin flooring and was able to get a full 19'9" of cargo space.

I'll have to dig up some more pictures of the build for you.

... and yes it is for sale, I just took delivery in August and wife now wants a super c

I think you’ll want a 24’ minimum, maybe even a 28. Torsion axles tow so smooth. 5200 or 7000lb axles (look at the empty weight of the trailer to see capacity). Can’t go wrong with a Haulmark. Continental Cargo is also good.

Is TPD trailers still around in CA? I know they were the pinnacle for a while.

Yeah. Bigger is always better! My thoughts are I wouldn't want to have a class A to tow it. With a bronco inside that would be creeping up on class A real quick in weight.

I had a 24' Racer with 5200 axles a fuel cell and 2 spare. 3/4" ply on floor and thinner on walls. It weighed 4400 lbs empty. So 5500 in load to stay under class A territory.

I’ve had 3 SportTrailers and have been very happy. The owner is grumpy to some people but always done me right.

I was able to sell each one of them for what I paid or slightly higher.

I'd like a 24' but I'm limited where I store it. I play tetrus with a 2 seater, CRF450, CRF 150 and CRF 110 in my 16' and still have room for ice chests wood etc. I'll have to ditch the lower cabinets and workbench most likely but think I could squeeze the bench in.

I like these 3 . Brown made a nice trailer just heard he was not good at business. Nice price just need to paint the inside and ad a bench across the front.

Carson is not the best. But they work. I have had several enclosed and currently have 4 of there trailers. I have dealt with Kevin and Ron for 20 years.

Not sure if 24' would work. But that 1 looks like new. Clean.

I have one also. Looked at a lot before I had him build mine. Too bad they went out of business a few years ago.

I looked into them. Mixed reviews. Make sure you order a car trailer vs a standard enclosed.
When I was looking they had a 6-8 weeks delivery timeframe

I have a 24' Carson Racer with the 103" wide body and dovetail rear. Extended RV tongue. Regular tandem axle layout (non spread) Trailer is built super solid and tows excellent. We haul around 6k lbs in ours, between the buggy and all the motorcycles and camping BS
It would handle a bronco no problem. Lots of room between the fenderwells, My car is 94" wide but can roll between the fenders when the front is strapped. I'd say its probably 80" between fenders, give or take. If its a tall bronco, you might want the 8' ceiling height and taller door for extra clearance. Just be aware that the trailers tow WAAAY different when they are tall, the increase in wind resistance is huge - may not be noticale behind a RV though.

One thing to think about - Getting out of a vehicle door in an enclosed trailer can be a PITA, depending on vehicles width and door size.
You might want to make sure the trailer your gonna buy has a side door placed where your drivers side door will open. You can always add one, not a big deal for a fab shop.

Sky trailers in Colton builds a few brands.
They will build you what ever and how ever you want. I had one built a few years ago and I know a few other members had have them as well. If you go there they will take you on a little tour. they are built like an assembly line there.
Are they top of the line, no but nice. I currently have one of their older 24'x8'x102" triple axle.

I ended up selling my Carson Racer to a friend because I couldn't get my 69 Bronco inside after installing a 3.5in lift and 35's. The roof wouldn't clear because of the rear door height and approach angle. Depending on the total height, you may need an extra-height door and roof.

I bought it new in 2006, and it's still going strong, it's not as refined as some others, but it's bulletproof.

My 67 has similar lift and 35's, it's 78" tall, I just reached out to New Trend and they build a comparable trailer to Carson and it's 7' door height. They're about $5k less too. This isn't their spread axle but looks very similar..

X2 on Sky, I purchased a 24' back in 2017 and it's been a great trailer.
Hard to believe what I paid OTD back in 2017 was about a 3rd of what most of the new trailers are selling for.

I know right. I built my first one around that time as well. They have a pretty good discount for cash back then as well🤣🤣

Jesse worked at Carson for 20+ years before starting his own outfit. I have a 22’ flatbed that he did for me. I know it’s apples and oranges, but it tows really well.
