Are all RV dealers rip off artists? Looking for a newer trailer for the river pad, stopped by my local RV store to see what they have on their lot, I saw on Craigslist a nice 34' trailer they had so I looked at, sales guy tells me they are asking $19995, CL had it listed for $9995 three days before I showed up, umm that's a huge difference.

Anyhow, if anyone has a recommendation for a good RV store I would appreciate it.

Not sure where your located but we bought ours at Traveland in Irvine.

What we liked about it, it has multiple dealers in one location. I forgot the name of the dealer we bought it from. But all in all had a great experience.

They even delivered it to us to our park at the River:thumbsup

In this market, buying any RV new from a dealership is throwing money out the window IMHO.

Not going new, looking for a cash deal. Seems that the dealers are all smoking that California illegal grass and private parties think that their $6000 trailers are worth $10000. :bash:

Looking at a 32'er in Temecula and a 37'er in Menifee on Saturday, we'll see if he thinks his poopoo doesn't stink too... :skull

Come on down, don't be scared like the rest of the haters... :D :D :D

traveland isa ghost town now. There are only a couple dealers left and even they look like they are on life support. on the flipside, my parents walked in there and bought a new trailer, got a pretty decent deal since nobody is really looking to buy $100k trailers.

It's been years, we bought ours brand new in 03.

That's too bad, always thought that was a neat place, didn't they have a bar restaurant too???

BTW, I didn't mention, I am towing a 32' - 35' trailer with my Tundra that is rated to haul 9900 lbs, you should all stay off the road... LOL

Scammers for sure.
I bought my toy hauler from them.

One year later, they sent me a letter $500 for a deposit that I "failed to give them". Then they sent me two more.

I laughed as I threw them all away.

They told me they wouldnt negotiate a price until they ran my credit. I told them to fock off. I gave them my license to drive the coach then they wouldnt give it back. The sales manager was playing cat and mouse with my license as he was in the middle of a deal. I stood over him as he was hammering out this deal and told him to give me my license back or I would reach into his pocket and take it. ;)

A week later I drove by with my new Winnebago. :thumbsup

Mine is the new style Tundra, not the old one with the little V8 and zero hauling capabilities. 400HP and 400+ ft lbs of torque, close to a PowerStroke... LOL

Exactly, it will be towed empty, trailer I looked at yesterday was a 30'er and unloaded was just over 5K, the Tundy will be fine...
Barry,

There are dealers in Yuma. I would think you would pay less tax here in AZ.

Is your river place on the AZ side?
Been looking there and Phx Jason, I would prefer to buy in AZ for the tax purposes, but if I haul it to AZ and register in AZ would I be able to avoid the CA taxes?

As we discussed, if you find one out here we'll tow it out for you with a REAL truck. Mostly I just want to defile the bed before you get it... bwahahahaaa!

I have always wanted to try this deal. Find out what you want 1st and then see how much you can save.

I love that cat and mouse story. I had this happen to me many years ago with my trade in at the Ford Dealer in Huntington Beach. The name before it is now (memory loss). In working the deal we could not come to terms so I wanted to leave and they gave me the...your car has already been traded. Then all the salesmen put me on ignore so I went to the pay phone and called the HB PD.

Fixed it in about 5 min. I will never forget the officer as he gathered up every employee in the dealership and said he would arrest every employee there if it happened again. About a year later that dealer was shut for fraud, un paid off trades, etc. Dealers.

Barry,

If you find one here in SD, we can help you bring it out with our Dodge.

Unlike PTB, I have no need to defile your bed first though.... HAHAHAHA.....:D

I appreciate the offer and if need be will take you up on it. :thumbsup

See you for the Jeep Run. Should be fun, the trip to Red Cloud mine is easy cheesy so the beer tends to flow a little easier, uh ohh... LOL

Go see Kevin @ Ramona RV/ All About Fun. He has a space in Pruitt City
himself and has sold & set up many trailers there and at Hidden Shores. I know he had some used park model types for awhile last summer. I believe he was going to repo one back from Hidden Shores soon also.
He usually delivers for anyone that needs a larger tow. Tell him he owes me a bottle of Goose!

When you're towing big, you have to tow with BIG!!!!

We're very familiar with Red Cloud Mine. We've probably made the trip 10 times over the years.....

I have no idea what space # he's in.
Cathy stuck him on the far south rd next to storage to get him away from the public. He's the one with the obnoxious pontoon with the black covers sitting out front of his space. He's all business at work and he's all fun at play. He'll treat you right. I think he owes me 2 bottles of Goose by now.

For what it's worth, I bought a used gas motor home at RV World in Yuma this past May. It was a good experience, all things considered.
