When these campers took off for the day, they returned to campsite and found their blue heeler peeking at them thru the RV door. It could've been worse, at least he was smart enough to chew thru the door and not one of the walls.

When I started my Linemans apprenticeship I had to work all over Cal & Nev, so I bought a class C motorhome for me and my Queensland Heeler Storm. The first day I went to work & left Storm in RV, he ripped down all the window valances and side drapes and he'd pushed 2 warm steamers down the pipe for me to clean up. Argh.. From the next day on, he went to work with me and became part of our Line crew.

I have never had a dog that would do something like that. If I ever came home and saw something like that, I wouldn’t have the dog anymore

Alot of herding dogs have major separation anxiety issues. They need to be with their people or they go crazy. Ask anyone that owns one, you’d be hard pressed to find a dog that works harder to please, and is more loyal to their family. Also because they are so intelligent, if they get bored they come up with things to entertain themselves, sometimes this is the result.

This is always why I encourage people to research a working dog breed prior to owning one.

When we don’t take ours somewhere he grumbles and grunts in disgust as we walk out the door. As long as he has free run of the entire house he is perfectly fine, the minute you lock him in a room and walk away from the door he goes ape shit. We too found out when my son locked him in the laundry room prior to us leaving for a birthday party. We came home to a hole in the door too after being gone for 3 hours.
And we have had this guy for 10 years....never did anything like this EVER

We used to take two of our dogs to Glamis back in the day. When we went on rides, my black lab would gather loose items(ugg boots, ball caps etc) and pile them up...never chewed them up. My Blue Aussie would sit on the dash and watch for us out of the windshield.

I'm on my 4th Queensland Heeler in 30 years and learned early on thru trial and error that "a tired dog is a good dog." Heelers are very smart, tough as hell, high strung stubborn loyal companions. But they require alot of exercise and stimulation or they can be devious hell raisers. Definitely not for everyone. This is Chopper, he preferred to walk himself.

I have a 15 year blue heeler and he is like that walks better off the leash than on. I came out to havasu today and wife said he is looking all over for me because i didn't have a place left in the truck for him.

Yup, I looked at that pic and saw the Cow Dog and understood it, and then laughed.

Wifey has continuously owned Cow Dogs almost as long as she's been alive.

Lost our old timer Hank a few months back, he was an exceptional heeler. Great with the horses, but the cats didn't appreciate being herded and policed all the time!

Definitely been there. I have two huskies and they use to roam the house while i was away at work. I came home to walk them at lunch, like i do every day, and one of them accidentally shut the door of the bathroom. He’d done if before, and he’d usually just hang out until I came home. This time he ripped the door, frame, and everything to shreds. Couldn’t be mad at him because it was my fault.

I prefer German Wirehair Pointers. Kind of like the cow dogs, they have a surplus of energy and need projects. I tell people that "you need to provide them with a job, if you don't, they will provide one for themselves. You will probably not like the task they find on their own." many people just don't get that statement.

My German Shepherd is crate trained. He loves his crate and will stay in it all day without a peep. If I let him. I work from home, he's outside most of the day and night. He has a crate outside on the back deck covered. He mostly lays in it looking for bad guys!

We have a "cowboy corgie", half heeler half corgie. Smart as eff, and the corgie blood tames him down a little compared to our past heelers. He is by far the best dog I have owned, or been around.

We have an Aussie--he's an asshole, but luckily not destructive. My mom has a heeler--she's a Tasmanian devil in dog form. When my aussie and her heeler get together, all bets are off!

What non-dog people don't get -

The cost and annoyance of the repair and hassle are meaningless next to the joy the animal brings to the family and home.

UD
Agreed.
When people ask us why we keep putting ourselves through it, I tell them, " Lock your Dog and your Wife/Girlfriend in the Trunk of a car for an hour and see Who is Glad to see you when you open the Trunk?":D
That's the one you want to keep!:D
Then my wife smacks me and I tell her : Thanks for Proving my Point!" :D:D

So glad I’m not the only Dobie owner who has to deal with that!! Gypsy eats those dog beds within a week or 2. I bought a cheapo kids mattress $50 from Walmart, it’s been 3 months and she hasn’t tore it up yet (knock on wood).
HE;) does it out of sexual frustration:D
At the time he did that in the pic we had a female Dobe in heat.
Rocky is fixed but it doesn’t erase that wonderful scent in the air, lol.
If he even looked her way while she was in heat she’d get all fang face and “convince” him he wasn’t going to be getting any:D

Friend had a half husky half pit he rescued named Glamis. He text me a picture of its head popped through drywall asking How to fix his girlfriend's house. It chewed through the wood siding and through drywall trying to get in. Ended up back at the pound where he found it.

Click on the movie and turn it up.
Bud wasn't a good traveler
We went through a lot of pillows

LOL Sounds like a squeaker toy. That is your dog making the noise and not the pillow right?

There’s a reason female dogs are called bitches.
Once you’ve seen it (and a Doberman bitch at that;) ) you’ve seen it and you get it. :D

Our dog would go after the squeaker as well.
