Morning started with a 5K run to a beautiful sunrise!

Washington UT to Grand Junction was a cool 379 miles. Kids did great!

Stopped off at The Creamery in Beaver. Neat farm-to-table dairy concept. It’s worth checking out if you’re ever in the area.

Staying at Canyon View RV Resort for the night. Clean facilities for a quick pit stop. Kids swam while I watch the news…

312 miles today.

Stopped in Georgetown CO and saw Bigfoot!

Visited my first Buc-ees. Speechless!

Currently, at a KOA in Fort Collins. Long day. Left at 6:30 am and pulled into camp at 6 pm after all the shenanigans.

Mt Rushmore tomorrow! At least I’m there for a few days….

Fort Collins to Hill City today. Just over 300 miles with some nasty crosswind in northern Colorado and Wyoming.

Saw a highway sign and stopped at the Quebec 01 Missile Alert Facility State Historic Site in Chugwater, WY. It was fascinating!

Moseyed thru the plains of WY and SD (stunning land!) and arrived at Palmer Gulch KOA. Set up camp and hustled to Mt Rushmore.

My first time visiting the memorial and it didn’t disappoint. We stayed for the lighting ceremony and I was impressed by how patriotic it was. The crowd sang America the Beautiful and I almost shed a tear….

Awesome day!

I was looking at your pics and it brought back a lot of great memories from virtually the same trip I took with my family in 2001 in our RV. One of my young sons on that trip is known as Lake Mead Boater on RDP. Wondering if this last pic is the Rafter J Bar campground in Hill City? Enjoy it all man, your kids will never forget it!

Yeah, lots to do and see in that area. If and when you do go back, see if you can figure out a way to take a side trip ( long one) to Little Big Horn. It's the site of Custer's Last Stand and it's really worth the trip. Do a tour with a park ranger and you'll be blown away at how it all went down. In the meantime, enjoy this trip and thanks for taking me down memory lane!

Looks like a great trip! We are planning something similar for 2026. How do you like the Palmer Gulch KOA?

I drove right by it but never stopped. The kids weren’t having it.

Headed to Badlands and Wall for a quick day trip. Left Mt Rushmore and stopped in Sheridan and Bozeman.

Just got to Yellowstone for the next 4 days.

It’s great for the kids. Tons of activities and things for them to do. A little too busy for me, though. My wife said it wasn’t the cleanest. I’m glad that we stayed there this trip, but I won’t go back.

Great trip, thanks for brining us along.

It too was one our family’s favorite and will always remember it. We still plan on heading back to South Dakota as we absolutely loved it there.

@RVR2SNO how many days was this trip? My wife and I were just talking this morning about doing some kind of loop trip in March of next year starting in SoCal, making our way to Mt Rushmore, and then working a loop back...very similar to what your map looks like....curious on your experience
