I know it gets discussed every year , and I know the route changes every year . Does anyone know the safe entrance to the river on the way to Topock ? Maybe the person who fly’s overhead could post a pic ?

I usually run along the AZ side, then cut in towards the "island" and follow the deep water. Polarized glasses help. I've hugged the AZ side too long before though, failed to make the cut in towards the island, and ended up in a reed cul-de-sac and beached lol. Was able to walk the boat out and try again.

Pointless. I’ve been making this run all winter every few weeks, nothing significant has changed in recent years

Same, same. I did it Saturday and did the zigzag in front of the Island and then hugged it. Same as usual. I did notice there was quite a bit less water once in the current which makes sense with less power demand than in summer. Seemed much shallower than usual though along the entire route from the entrance to Topock. Especially the long straight south of the Sandbar. I don't recall worrying about a route through there much, and nothing looked good. Made it through and it looked normal coming south later in the day with the water further up.

Makes me fearful of taking the cigarette up there with it’s deeper draft and super expensive billet cleavers.

The faster you go the better chance of a abrupt stop. Just kidding
Best route is following someone and watching the water color

I would wait another month, I do it year round but always in cats and I prefer a sand labbed prop anyway. Billet cleavers I would be terrified.

The tour boat takes this route. I can take any route, but tend to hug reed island and either have the casino at my back on the way in, or head for the casino on the way out.

I don't recall seeing those 2 brown patches just south of the moving boat. Is that a small patch of floating dead tullies like I sometimes see just south of the island which are normally elongated? Almost looks like a rock formation.

With all the money Windsor ramp will be charging for oversized vehicles they should dredge the entire river.

This is funny. Every time everyone comes up with all this zigzag thing. I just go straight in. Because I guarantee that when you come out you go straight So what’s the difference.

So, if you took a straight line out of the river like it looks like that boat may have taken.... What is the depth like? 2 feet? 8 inches?......

Just drive up there people, why does everyone make such a big deal over this? Zig zag, go straight, hug the reeds, lift your feet, it really doesn’t matter. In February sure it does, this time of year it doesn’t.

I just noticed “Catfish Bay” near the California no wake side of the entrance. Can an I/O get in to there? Worth exploring a little.

Agreed. I just trim up and push the stick forward. Have never seen any muddy water in my wake yet. Of course, that is only during the summer time when the water level is up.

But then I couldn’t look like the cool kids rolling a 4’ wave off the back for no reason, blasting gansta rap, and throwing back natty ices with all my broheims. Check out my sweet tribal tat.

Up or down river I always go around the reed island just for piece of mind, 3 weeks ago on our way down there were 3 boats stuck AZ side of center at the beginning of the lake.
