I raced boats for five years and lost three friends, I couldn't take it anymore and called it a day. It's such a small community, nothing like the size of auto racing, everybody knows everybody. When I went to Greg Beldas service it was as if I was attending my own. I never got my head straight after that day.

I was down near the finish line when the wreck happened and saw the whole thing. He was behind in the race and gaining ground fast so my Dad and I assumed he stayed in it a trying for the win. He started chine walking right at the finish line and the left side dug in and the boat went airborne and pirouetted throwing the capsule forward.

im not sure if this is the rite thread but we lost a fellow t.a.h driver today in marble falls texas....mike fry ..I for one will deeply miss him and wish prayers, and godspeed to his family..he was a fierce competitor and loved the sport..it was an honor to race with him and I will truly miss him..i am truly saddened...im in a state of shock...sorry if this is not the rite thread...kent

Just got home from the river. Was talking to another TAH driver on the drive home to see how the day went when he told me the sad sad news. RIP Prayers out to the family, Jeff, Denise, and the kids. Mike was always a great racer and involved with NJBA for many many years. Godspeed

What to say...my condolences to Mike's family and friends. It's hard to lose a racer. One minute thy're there, and then they're gone. Always good guys, always a person you held close as a friend, and it always hurts like hell.

I always grab the Itinerary booklet's off the table at every Drag Boat Championship Banquet I've been to over the decades.

Positively the most Energetic Champion to walk up to the podium that evening to accept his Ring.
It was a standing ovation.
