Wasn't sure which section to post this in. I bought this in the HB days. It's come in handy several times and saved a weekend or 2. Sold the boat and don't have any use for it. There's one listed on Ebay for $650, I'll take $500. https://www.ebay.com/itm/265598552006?hash=item3dd6e847c6:g:mlkAAOSwpgNiMhRx 8F38C2BD-4CD8-4F04-AA8B-96D4448756F6.jpeg

Any idea if it’s the same one that’s needed for the 525’s?

Technically speaking for this now discontinued scan tool model, programming 6.0 Version should be installed in order to get/see the latest updates depending on year of engine being scanned/tested for possible serious running issues… In general most of these tech mates scan tools will read the PCM for most of the earlier made Merc racing HP engine models such as the 525…I don’t believe it will ever be able to read say the newest HP engines such as a big 1350 HP, etc. which will most likely need the tech mate pro with G3 capabilities.

The 525 should need the thinner, flat looking designed plug which I can see Kachina26 has in his photos above.
The fatter type plug connector would be for the MEFI ECM’s for EFI engines generally made in the 90’s and possibly “some” early smaller engine models made in the early 2000,s again for the MEFI ecm’s.

So then yes to @02HoWaRd26 's question?

Yes it would read and show fault codes on his 525 EFI engine with the connectors shown.
