Retrieving boats at night

So its the first Holiday of the summer, lots of trucks with headlight's on and doors open at night at the launch ramp? Is it that hard to turn the lights off?

Some have DRL.....but it can be a little irritating when they leave their doors open.

I can't turn mine off unless the truck is off and parking brake is on. Maybe I could figure out how to turn them off but don't really care

Newer chevy's have a switch to turn them off. 2000-2002 trucks you push the dome light button 3 times and it shuts them off. 1999 trucks....well....you are screwed - your only option is to push the E-brake in 1 click and it will kill the DRL.

Maybe I'm not following but what's the big deal if their lights are on? How's that bothering you?

I've been backing down the ramp and had someone above and in front of me with headlights on completely blind me. Couldn't see behind or in front on me.

Interior lights make it hard to see anything outside the cab.

I pulled the fuse on my chevy. Labled DRL. 2005hd

If u push parking brake a click or two that will turn them off as well

I've found many rangers have not a clue about these things and they're so inclined to think the worst of the public, won't listen to common sense reasoning.

One time, marina staff rolled up on a golf cart, while I was backing down and asked me to turn them off. I did have super bright HIDs and my truck was lifted.

80% of the time that I boat, I don't pull off the water til the sun is down. So I do understand the complaint as it can be difficult to back down a ramp with someone's headlights shining at you. It's like being pulled over by the cops at night. Once they flip those spot lights on, you can't see shit behind you.

Since the time I was asked, I try to always remember to turn them off and only leave my parking lights on. LEOs aren't going to mess with you if you at least have parking lights on (you're parked).

Leaving your door open is just silly.

Want to comment on the GM DRL "issue".... On every Chevy I have owned, the DRLs only turn on when the truck is put in gear.

We were watching the boats at windsor sunday night and it was a show...one guy backed up his trailer for his dad and when he stopped the trailer hitch popped off as they were using the wrong end of a 2 ball hitch. We were able to stop him and the trailer then we helped him hitch up just in time. One guy was being arrested ...another had his truck and trailer in the water for about 1.5 hours as his boat broke down and no one would help him get his boat from the other side of the dock to the trailer..finally someone did though...glad we got out of the water around 5 as it was looking like a parking lot at that time too.
