Figured this topic may be worthy of its own thread. If you have real intel about the rebuilding process feel free to post it up here. I know there is a lot of unknowns on this topic right now and speculation.

My thoughts on this are simple, maybe I know some stuff and some people to help people through this process. I have a contact who is a forensic CPA with heavy background in insurance world. He is a flat fee guy who will help people navigate the insurance claims process. Similar to what a public adjuster does for 20% of the claim, or a consultant will do for 10% of the claim, this guys will do it for around $5k-$7k based on an hourly fee. I’m advising anyone who has any sort of claim to interview as many folks as they can and figure out what works for you.

Ideally getting people funded for every penny they are entitled to is step one of this process. Next is the demo and debri removal. There are two options on that, you either opt in for the government mass response which will clear your insurance line item for demo and take your property down 6” below grade. This is all prevailing wage work and on the governments timeline. Option 2 is to opt out of government mass response and hire a private contractor. I’d imagine this will be 1/2 the price and 10 times faster. I have several resources available for private demo/debris removal process as well that I’m happy to pass along contacts. Once again, interview everyone and do what’s right for you.

Here is a link that discusses opt in vs. opt out for demo/debri.

If you have some political opinion on this stuff, honestly no one gives a fuck so save the bandwidth 😂 my intent here is to provide people with quality resources and potentially build a long term working relationship based on those experiences. If you know someone who wants to look at there options objectively I’m more than happy to pass along some contacts for them to interview.

This is an 8 page document from mayors office outlining the process. It’s pretty optimistic in my opinion and we’ll see how it plays out in real time.
