Started at 530 after work and tried to get the front planter fence finished up. Wanted a different look so we poured it with black concrete. I should of had them mix it all black. But used regular concrete for the footing and capped it in black. A few areas that stick up we need to touch up with some black smooth stucco. Need to bondo the screw holes and touch those up with paint. See how it looks tomorrow in the daylight. Used some of the kentia palms I had and need 1 more I will grab tomorrow from my other yard.

Sad part is, I realized tonight, I have no "normal" hammers I have framers, shingling hatchet's and such, I have sledges, single jacks and ball peen...but no normal "picture hanging" type hammers. Nail set and a ball peen!

If it aggravates you that much and you have a few to case and base it might pay to hit the local liquidators for a Pic’n Save miter saw. Get a good blade and justify it by using on aluminum too.
At least it’s paint grade!

Same here, I have my DL51 for my license next month. I'm down 9lbs in 7 days.

I've been cutting my calories back for a few weeks and didn't start losing weight until 7-800 calories, 1.5 miles a day at the gym with light weights and lots and lots of reps. I walk a lot at work and shovel a lot of dirt and road base as well as forming.

@monkeyswrench I was laughing at the mitre box and frustration of using 1. I would lose it just trying to cut 1 piece let alone a few. I had to make over 50 cuts at different angles yesterday and without a compound saw it would of taking me a week. This 3 1/4" crown molding is a bitch to get perfect. Finished that at 505 then started on the fence. One of my guys needs to caulk and fill the pin holes still. I don't have patience for that.

@gottaminute? Been working on the curb appeal when time allows. Got half the parkway done with pavers. Still need to fix the sidewalk and approach.

Been working on the walkways at night. First section my Guys mixed up for me at 530 and I was there until 1015 finishing it. The wood is to protect it from the dew drips off the roof. The wet section in pics. They mixed up at 6pm. I left around 11pm after hitting it with a broom. It's been a few years since I did all the concrete at my Sisters after hours. After a thousand sq ft I got pretty good. By the time I work my way to the front I expect it to be perfect. At 400 a day for a finisher trying to save a few bucks. Nice cool nights give me plenty of time to work it. Just kicks my ass after working all day.

Yep, the miter box sucks. I only have a couple doorways to do though, and then some simple baseboard. Nothing fancy, this was just an unfinished garage, that had a pretty serious face-lift last year...and in Cali terms, is becoming an ADU A miter saw would be nice, obviously, but I may not ever use it again, and spending the money would be pretty pointless.

And yes, caulking will be required for the joints as well as the pinholes Lumber and skilsaws, yes. This stuff? Not quite my strength

I keep looking at the ball peens and can't figure out why they are so expensive. $50+ for a fucking hammer? I bought a Milwaukee that's a solid piece of steel.

Once you learn to use an air chisel the hammer has a lot less uses in a mechanic setting.

I got way better a trim after using a decent saw and watching a few videos. My guy was quoting $1.50 a foot and I was gonna pay it after my last experience with baseboards. Well, during the course of doing my floors, he had to remove and reinstall a piece of casing trim. I took one look at it and said there's no way I'm paying $1.50 a foot for work on the same par as mine. I borrowed a decent saw and went to work, I'd have lost my ass if it were piece work for sure. But in the end, I was very happy with how it turned out.

Try removing roll pins or taper pins with the air hammer. I think I have from 3oz to 30? I really like my 4pc MAC set though, probably my go-to. They're an anti-vibe setup. The dead blow ball peen that Horrible Freight sells is pretty good...haven't broken it. Pretty impressive considering I broke the face on a SnapOn For the most part, my air hammer is used for ball joint forks and blasting rivets out after cutting the heads off. Big hammers still have a place, like loosening up drums on a semi

no pics of today's project............I played chimney sweep. The pipe has 2 45's in it which makes cleaning a bit of challenge. I burnt some pine last year and it sure built up crap in the pipe. Looking at the weather forecast this week might be the start of wood stove season......80 degrees right now and the forecast is for mid 30's Friday night.

Long day!

Washed the Toyhauler in the morning.

Then almost got the exhaust system done on the K5.

Had to reconfigure it since the driveline shop put weights right where it would hit one of the mufflers. I reused the flow masters & bought a pipe kit from Amazon & the cross over.

Set windows / pocket door frame/ exterior doors/ temp hardware and terminated wires at 4” can lights / fixtures yesterday and today on my backyard ADU attached to my old rear garage at our back alley. Started stucco and roof demo slowly in July and then tore my pool out/ built an engineered fill pad on August 15-17th. Making pretty good headway since then- Deck coating /PVC flat roof and solar mounts / 2 layers UDL / copper flashings/ mini splits/ plumbing and elec are almost done and got my lather lined up for Thursday .

When doing the back fill for the new construction, did they want it "inspected" so many times? Never something I'd heard about, but a couple of dirt work guys out here told me about it. They've been doing some serious fill to bring to pad grade.

Yes here in most parts of our County soils report and inspections during excavation + check the bottom of the footings has been required for many years. I have a house going in Bullhead right now in a neighborhood that BHC has all the similar rules. On a deep one like this it's generally every 12" lift but we have a good long term relationship with most of the soils guys so they generally just check the bottom, middle, top, and footings. I was able to piggyback this ADU onto my old soils report from when I built this house in 04' so that was cool. Here we have to get a pad cert letter on new builds too for the file but honestly it takes a lot of liability off everyone going forward so it hasn't ever been an issue to me. There's usually multiple options how to proceed when we tear a house down or are on a bare lot, and it depends on the season and rain in the forecast whether we over ex and recompact what's there or haul off and import, deepened footings to suitable material etc.

Not necessary.

Simply lay the washer on its side and 4 screws to remove the pump, then 3 screws and a wire clip to R&R the motor.

Over a week (took my time) but got the oil changed (6.5 gallons of it) belts changed, all chassis / drive shaft zerks greased and air filter changed

removing and replacing the AC belt was the hardest part due to everything that was in the way, and having to get to the 4 bolts to loosen up the compressor.
