Picture for folks that haven't seen it! I know I won't be seeing it out here, but someone else might.

Sucks and sorry to hear.

I follow a FB page, "SouthBay Scanner" I saw a post this early morning from the Harbor City area that said they apprehended someone in a stolen grey suburban, any chance it's yours?

I am in the O.C. for a few days and will keep my eye out. Friend lost a 2500 Suburban in L.A. a few weeks ago. Hate thieves!

Best of luck in finding you vehicle. That is one of my concerns now that I travel with personal vehicles rather than rentals these days on CA. Let’s see the power of RPD and find this one!!!!

On the contrary, my son has a suburban that we would love somebody to steal. Come on down and take if off our hands. Let me know when you're coming and I'll put a cooler full of beer in the back as a token of my gratitude.

Seriously though, to OP, I am in north OC and will be out driving all day, I'll keep a look out. That sucks man.

Just looked at the FB page, they have listed as a 1999 Gray Suburban. I would think they could possibly mix up pewter and gray especially since it was night time. Might be worth calling LAPD Harbor division. Sounds like a pursuit and shooting, happened around 10pm last night.

Sorry to hear about this - wish you speed and luck in recovering it.

Just curious - is that a 2500 4x4?

That looks like the diesel one that was for sale a while back, but I thought it sold? Either way, if it was the diesel one, big ouch. Hope it is recovered with little to no damage.

These are not taken across the border, ALL Jeep Gladiators are, 100% of the time. Sorry this occurred, but I have posted for years about GPS hidden tracking on easy to steal trucks, SUV's, etc. About $120 to install with 2 years tracking, and $65 per year afterwards. Prefer 2+ cars at a time. IF you do not have theft insurance, GET GPS or do not complain.

So the GPS tracking is hidden and cannot be detected by a thief? Can they use some kind of jamming equipment on the signal? You are saying its like $5 a month and you would absolutely know where your car is at all times unless they could find the hidden GPS device and remove it.

Let’s face it you could always find something on a vehicle if you spend the time go looking for it but for the most part unless it’s many hours after the thieves they don’t bother.

They hide these pretty good. Last thing you want is a plug-in unit to the OBD two port

So it’s either something like this or it’s nothing. Apple devices are 1 cm above worthless.

The good thing is the system I use which is Cal amp sure guard through a wholesale basis uses Google maps satellite maps and even does a once every 24 hours automatic page do your vehicle or group of vehicles

The rental car industry uses these extensively and they’re even available with an upgrade for ignition cut off which is a benefit in the rental car industry
Of course this is all cell phone data based guidance but it works as well as anything else for the price point.

I am theft comp insurance on every vehicle that I own but if I was in a position where I couldn’t afford it or like that not to have it this is absolutely the only way to go.

There in every vehicle that I own.

The UTV I just bought came with a GPS tracker that uses an app called AVAS to track it. You could set up a perimeter at your house or wherever you store it, and if it moves out of that perimeter, it starts sending you messages with tracking info...its pretty realtime, I had already installed the app when they delivered the car and I was able to track it all the way here....not sure if its similar to what @boatpi mentioned above.

That’s correct most systems you can do what they call a Lassus around your device and it’ll alert you.
There are many options is software is pretty good the option is ignition shut off which would prevent the vehicle from starting again if the engine is running at the time you activate it.
Here’s a screenshot of one of my vehicles.

We had that system in my wifes car and ended up removing it. It would act up all the time. There were many dayss it would say she was at home or at work and neither was the case.

Hey RR, maybe the device was working fine and your wife was elsewhere 😂😂😂
I thought about that but showed she was at work and her car was in the driveway. It would show her at work for days even on the weekends when we were out in that vehicle.

Mine works flawlessly and you might not exactly have had my device this is the latest one and this company does 98% commercial installations very few privately owned vehicles. They only Lojack and their main business is Lojack offshoot for more than the trucking industry.

Dealer had installed Safepoint in my Volt when I bought it. Works very well.
