2008 Hallett 335 with 5th gen 710 Ilmor’s / SCX drives.. MCOB.

Dealing with Eric Nixon (previous owner) has been an absolute pleasure and the way a boat deal should be done.

Speaking of Absolute huge thanks to Aaron and crew for getting it in for a last minute pre-buy inspection!

Big thanks to Absolute speed and marine for squeezing us in for a pre buy inspection.. the big thing with these Ilmors is the headers.. if they crack and can’t be fixed they are 6,000 ea..

Aaron went through the motors and the drives and pulled the headers and upon a pressure test found one of them just starting to leak.

Thankfully one of my good good friends and one of the better fabricators around Eric Barker can fix anything.. (he routinely fixes these and makes tail pipes for shops etc). So I took it to my shop yesterday and he fixed it anbd pressure tested it. He already dropped over at Jeff’s polishing this morning and it has been finished and now back at absolute and they will have the boat ready Friday for the weekend. :).

I made a couple of those but never really promoted them.. ironically a friend of mine has a Hallett with twins and drives it like a single and is always asking me to go out and show him how to handle it around the docks..

I’ll make some videos with the new one..

Aaron and Cheryl at absolute are awesome! Therlir work in fantastic and their ability to squeeze you in and communicate is such a bonus. I highly recommend them. They are doing a top end refresh on my brothers Daytona right now and found shavings in the drive that was supposedly rebuilt by another shop. Still going to have it ready by Friday. So cool.

Your videos actually helped me a ton when I got my boat, which was my first with twins.

I’m happy to hear that.. there’s a lot deeper we can dive into it.. but the idea that it helped somebody makes me smile. I remember when @BHC Vic said that if you aren’t using reverse you are doing it wrong and it helped him.

Once you get comfortable with the idea that a boat is a boat is a boat.. doesn’t matter how big they are it’s all the same.

I took a friend out on a 42 MTI that owns twins and he was a bit nervous about the whole deal. I kept telling him it’s no different than what we drive just bigger. Honestly the big ones especially with bow thrusters are so much easier.. no bow thruster though no problem.. its Still Easy with multiple motors. The more the better as far as I’m concerned.
