I decided to coach a 12-13 year old girls competitive soccer team. It’s through an AYSO program to keep cost down; about 1/4 of a club team. The locality is low to mid income and my goal is to give these kids a chance they might not otherwise have and prep them for high school or even college play.
That said, we need about $3000 for tournaments. I’ve already spent over a grand on uniforms and supplies and the wife would kill me if I funded the season when she wants new flooring in the house.
What’s the best way to raise funds? Open to all ideas. There’s business sponsorship as well, tax deductible, if any of you are interested in that route.

I don't know the general make up of the team or the area. I also don't know if things have changed...but 30-40 years back, Pops got a roofing supply house to sponsor our baseball team (still have the hat somewhere) At the time, he was just a roofer, not a lead or anything. 15 years back, I did the same for a worker's kid brother's team. I don't know the contractor culture now, but I'm sure there's still guys that remember where they came from, and can help out. Most times it isn't really about the write-off, it's about being one of those kids, having kids or having grandkids.

It’s tough. Just for my team to practice It cost about 120 bucks for 2 hours. That’s just renting the field

My son played football, and they sold ad space in the team program. They had it pretty well sorted out. You may be too late for that kind of option.

Personally I knew most of the local businesses, but it was a great learning experience in communication for my son.

I don’t know AYSO policies about sponsors are? But I would try going to local businesses, like maybe a local car dealership, restaurant, contractor etc. and see if they would sponsor the team or a partial sponsorship. They would get a team photo, personal thank you cards from each player and they could make & print out 3x5 flyers that you could then hand out to all the parents letting them know who to support, as they are supporting their kids. Then and at each game walk the sidelines handing out those same flyer letting everyone know to please support the local businesses, that are putting these kids on the field.

Not sure if AYSO would allow you to put up a banner with the team name on it at the game? But if you can add all the team sponsors on that banner, for all to see.

Also it’s important to send after game emails with maybe a picture or two, to those sponsors telling them how the team & kids are doing, how the game went and another thank you for helping give these kids a chance, and potentially changing the direction of their lives. These kids could one day be customers or employees vs thief’s or vandals.

You never want to take a sponsorship and think once you get the check you’re done. Look at sponsorship and say; What can I do for you? How can I help your business? Because we already know what you want them to do for you, that’s cut a check.

What type of flooring does She want? Can possibly get you a better price on it at my cost. And pay the savings forward to the kids.
Vinyl fake wood stuff.

Car Wash. Have the players make signs and wash cars for a donation. Some will screw them, others will overpay. Pick a good, high visibility spot with easy in and out access. Contact the Property owner/manager and get permission to hold it there and use their water. Groups I have been with have had pretty good success with them.
