Sad he won't be around to finish his mission.

Maybe HOF posthumous?

RIP...... What a character!

He played at a higher level than anyone in the modern era of the sport, almost to the point of crazy.

I was at an Astrodome Astros-Phillies game during the late 70s or early 80s, and Rose had rounded third on a single, attempting to score from second base. The throw from the outfield came in hot and accurate, and it looked like Pete was going to be easily thrown out.

He flat ass annihilated Astros catcher and current Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy at the plate. It wasn't a slide, it was an attack. Bochy was bowled over, the ball came loose from his glove, and Rose was safe. Bochy suffered a shoulder injury and was out for a weeks.

It was just another Tuesday night at the ballpark for Pete.

Pete taught a lot of kids to work hard. One of my favorites, still have a couple of his cards.I believe the saying play like you practice, practice like you play came from him. RIP legend!

Had season tickets back then. Got to see Rose play and Johnny Bench too. Rose was a good shortstop & 2nd base the games I saw.
"I would never made it to the Major Leagues if I didn't have a relative working in MLB" - Pete Rose
"If I knew what pitch was coming Ida batted 1.000" - Pete Rose answering questions about the Astros sign stealing scandal.

Cincinnati fans legacy is they were the worst at Dodger Stadium. Always fights and brawls even fight the LAPD in the stands who was on hand it was so bad. This all resulting banning beer sales in the outfield "bleachers" back then.
Dodger stadium is one place a fan looking for trouble will easily find it.

Best fans were the Mets fans. Cubs too. Dodgers 4 to Cubs 3 - but if the Cubs had more strikeouts their fans took it as a win.
